Erratic Idle H23

So i bought this 95 si with no rust or anything its just perfect, to replace my 94 s. i bought it for 600 even though the guy could have sold the wheels for that much. mainly because the car has a very rough idle. it travels from 2000 to 2500 rpm almost every second. we have tried everything we could think of. the cam timing was off a tooth, but we fixed that. we thought it could be the map sensor, so i switched them between my two preludes, both cars run the exact same. we hooked it up to a scanner and it was throwing a low voltage to map sensor code. so we voltmeter-checked the wiring and it seems fine. cleaned the throttle body and there was build up, but no luck. there was a tube from throttle body to map sensor that when removed the car idled normally. the car has been having a hard time starting as well, like even though there is four bars of gas i still have to pump the gas to start it. i'm seriously stumped. and yes i checked the final idle problem thread thing too, but that didnt help me any. i have the 94 s that i can pull things off of, and i really wanna get it going right, i need to pass emissions so i can register it, but i cant until its fixed. so im in a but of a time crunch.

Re: Erratic Idle H23

Well honestly I did not try everything... Ill get on that, but it seemed like for sure it was the
map sensor. But I don't think its a vacuum leak cuz we would have heard it,
and it seems a little too rough for it to be that. I have basically
narrowed to down to something with the map sensor, so I'm pretty sure its not the iacv or the thermo thing. But the guy I bought it from like took of the head and did the head gasket or something, but he didn't know enough to do it right, like the cam timing was off a tooth, and the map sensor plug was in
the iacv and the Iacv harness wasn't in anyrthing, just to give you an idea of what I'm dealing with.
And sorry I'm on my phone so that is why the text is so weird.

Re: Erratic Idle H23

The guy who wrote that is extremely knowledgeable and if you do everything, I would almost bet my car your problem will be fixed. Do the FITV first because it was about a 20 minute job. Also, just because you can't hear a vacuum leak does not mean one isn't present. Try everything in that thread, and if your problem is not resolved, we will do our best to help you

Re: Erratic Idle H23

seriously though! although because of poor planning and other factors like that, aka dropping bolts like four times into the deep recesses of my engine bay, it took like an hour and a half! ahaha. thanks for your help man!

Oh of course, like fifteen bucks and fifteen minutes. But don't worry I got some plans for it, once I get some money I might start a build thread. But probly just some small updates
