KNOCK SENSOR HELP!

whats up my people.
so a few months ago i had my ecu changed out which cleared a "no 1 cylinder position" code.
on the drive home, my car threw me another CEL.
checked it and turned out to be for the knock sensor.
i havent really felt any bad symptons as far as performance goes.
maybe a little loss of power but the biggest thing is bad gas mileage.
i was advised to change out the knock sensor. so i recently(yesterday) got a new knock sensor. i've heard that they can be a pain in the ass to change.
so i was wondering if you guys could direct me to a write up or just help me out on this thread on how to change it, and the easiest way to do it.
thanks.

p.s. i have a h23a non vtec 95 prelude SE

Re: KNOCK SENSOR HELP!

Step 1 - Pull motor.

Step 2 - Swap knock sensors.

Seriously though...changing the sensor isn't hard, it's a 27 or 29mm bolt, just remove the old one, and put the new one in. Getting to it, however, is a different story. I've never done it with the motor in the car, so my best guess would be to remove the intake manifold FIRST and see where that gets you.

Re: KNOCK SENSOR HELP!

NO NO! Hah, please dont go through the headache.

Put the car on 2 jack stands in the front.

dbd, I replaced mine 2 months ago, and I did it from under the car. The sensor is right above (if your laying under the car) the oil filter. It is tight, and it'll take a little squirming, but it took me no more then 10mins to get the old one off and the new one in. I believe the socket size is 22mm (I'll go check), you'll probably need to go to the store and get one, deep socket. The sensor itself screws in and out, so just snug the socket on it, fiddle with the socket wrench, get it on there, and one good yank should break it free.
