Re: Oil Pressure gauge installation

all it is is a gauge that has a spot for a smalll tube in the back. So i assume it is mechanical and not electric.

Re: Oil Pressure gauge installation

your probably going to have either T off your oil pressure switch on the back the block of remove it and just use the spot solely for the gauge.

Re: Oil Pressure gauge installation

You have to remove the OE oil pressure switch and screw the new fitting into that hole. It shows pictures on the thread 2.2Lude gave you a link to.

Re: Oil Pressure gauge installation

Well, I have the f22a1 in my 93, what i was wanting to know is that if i purchase say, this one off amazon (Amazon.com: Tinted 7 Color Oil Pressure Gauge: Automotive) could i just splice the OE wiring in the car and just kinda piggyback it off the stock sending unit? Trust me, I don't want to hole drilling in my block. Expensive & time consuming, like my gf's firebird she wanted a better water temp unit so i bough a sunpro one and just installed it WITHOUT using the sender that came with it, just piggybacked it off the stock one. Works fine. See, I don't want to trip the oil light I want them to work in correspondence. I'm also gonna install a voltmeter, and a water temp gauge, BUT i want them to work in sync with the factory stuff. Looks way better that way, im gonna buy all from that same brand as posted above. And I think we'll all agree the stock gauge for the water temp is really pretty, BUT it doesn't really tell you the temp of your car. And as far as the voltmeter and oil psi, those are two very important things to pay attention to especially in a spots car.

Re: Oil Pressure gauge installation

What I was wanting to know man is if i can just piggyback it. Since it was a electronic gauge and not a mechanical one, also need to know if i can do the same about the other two. The "t" is for the mechanical gauge right? I want an electric one. that's what i want to know, and if im not mistaken, the water temp sensor is right below the distributor on the f22a1 and i also think that the oil sender is in a diff place. I'm not a 100% on the oil sender though. Thank you for the reply. =)

Re: Oil Pressure gauge installation

On the F's its above the filter. Even with electric oil gauges you need to run an oil line to the sending unit then wires from the unit to the gauge.

Re: Oil Pressure gauge installation

So, I still gotta buy the "T".. well, could someone link me to the product. Thank you all for your help. Will the voltmeter and water temp be pretty straightforward? just splice and play? lol
