G-force preformance chips

Has anyone heard anything about G-force preformance chips, thinking about adding some HP and increase mileage

Re: G-force preformance chips

Just a forewarning, most of the chips are usually smoke and mirrors, and even if they increase power for a short time, they usually end up damaging either the electronics or the motor itself.

Given the fact that this intercepts IAT sensor (Intake Air Temp) signal, it leads me to believe that it makes the car believe it's getting colder air, which would make it dump more fuel into the combustion chambers, meaning higher chance for detonation (engine knock), and lower gas mileage.

TL;DR? I wouldn't do it, most of these chips just force more gas into the combustion chamber. Save money for better more cost effective mods.

EDIT:

Also, given the fact that it's a "$399.99" chip being sold for "$69.99" is never a good sign. Now I could be wrong, but given the info I've just posted I personally would not chance it.

Re: G-force preformance chips

Wow, 30HP+ and better fuel economy!! If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Surely even a piggyback VAFC or the like couldn't achieve 30HP from a lude with the most aggressive tune using stock parts, let alone get better mileage doing so. Honda engineers aren't stupid, they do a pretty good job of balancing power and economy and longevity, there aren't many ways to get good gains in one area without hurting the others. In my opinion, don't waste your time.

I have heard of companies, and I am not claiming to know if this particular one is the same, but some will sell a product claiming to do something magical like give free power or so on for a stupidly low price and offer a full money back guarantee. Many people buy this product and a number of them are probably satisfied, likely due to a placebo effect, and some people are dissatisfied. Of the dissatisfied customers not all people will ask for their money back as some won't be bothered chasing it up further or something like that. So, the company makes profit selling a $2 collection of useless plastic and LED's for $50 and only having to give money back to a fraction of their customers. Is it immoral? Yes. Is it illegal? Probably not. If this IS a real product (still a skeptic) then I'd like to hear someone give some actual proof to the gains, not some bull**** testimonial on a random website.

I seem to remember a Mythbusters episode where they tested these kinds of things out.

That turned into more of a rant than I expected, apologies.

Re: G-force preformance chips

Those chips are a scam. If it were as easy as plugging a $70 chip in, everyone would be doing it.
