Car wont start, it isnt the starter

OK so the other day I drove to work and left my lights on. the battery was dead so I got it jump started and drove home. When I got home and shut off the car my headlight alarm went off, however, the headlights were off. When I got out and looked I noticed my parking lights were on. So I went in the car and turned every knob and switch to try to see why the heck they wouldn't turn off. So I unplugged the battery. I plugged it back in and the the lights were off. But then the car wouldn't turn over when I tried starting it so I hit the starter with a hammer and got it started. Later that day I drove it all around and stopped at 3 places, the third time I was parked at target, when I came back it wouldn't turn over again even after the hammer it wouldn't work. So I got some help and we push started it. I tested the battery and its fine. So I went out and bought a brand new starter for it but its doing the same thing, it wont turn over. Very irritating because I just dropped 80 bucks on the starter and it inst even the issue.
My buddy said the parking light issue must have been from my remote starter or something, and my father says he thinks the problem might be in the ignition switch. And I remember when I did drive it to town the red light in the left hand corner of the windshield was blinking the whole time I was driving. And they keyhole stayed lit up after I removed the key and turned the car off. So if anyone might know what the problem is I would really appreciate the help. And by the way... I just had an H22a put in. its a 1995 Si 5sp Manual. It came stock with the remote starter too. The car ran perfect for about 2 weeks and all this started last Saturday.

When you go to start it, does the green light with the key in it stay lit on your dash? That would be your immobilizer.

All I can think of right now, I'm beat. As a parting gift I'll leave you with this. Don't hit the starter with a hammer. On the old type of starters that was a fine temporary fix/diagnosis procedure. These days they put magnets in starters. And magnets crack when hit hard enough. Then sht breaks.

IS your starter a PM (permanent magnet) type starter? How would I know?

Find out before you just go hitting sht with a hammer.

Re: Car wont start, it isnt the starter

lol my dad told me about the hammer trick... but its all good I got the car started just now. Get this... All I had to do was hit the lock button down like 5 times and it reset the anti-theft device. That was it. Oh well I have a brand new starter now : )

Thanks for the suggestions Havik, yeah the light did stay lit that I think of it. But its out now so I guess I did the trick.

what if the green light doesn't light up at all? I'm having this problem with my 98 prelude and it will crank but there is no spark.
