I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

Alright, My dash lights in the rpm/mph area do not work, my marker/turn signals and tail lights do not come on when I turn on my lights (brake lights work and turn signals work when you turn on the signal they just are not coming on as a marker). I replaced the dimmer relay, tried a new headlight relay for the hell of it and replaced the 20 fuse under the hood (small light) and nothing. I am starting to think it may just be the combo switch but haven't tested it yet. I also think it may be a wiring issue because under my dash is a mess thanks to the previous owner having what looks like what is left of an after market alarm. The problem has been intermittent until yesterday morning I could not get them to come on, I used to be able to jiggle the wires under the dash or hit the dash to get everything to come back on but now I get nothing. Also, my heater/ac controls do light up and that is the part that is confusing me cause I thought they all run off the same fuses/relays and my gas/temp lights up.

Anyone ever ran into this before? I'm probably going to test the combonation switch (the thing you turn use to turn on your lights) tomorrow at work but this is just annoying because I can't go anywhere at night in my car right now.

I have never seen anyone with this problem on here before but am hoping maybe someone has ran into it before and can give me some direction cause I am lazy and do not feel like testing everything.

My luck I have some faulty wiring somewhere and I am just going to have to hunt it down.

Re: I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

check the blue harness.. top of the under dash fuse panel. Sounds like it has come loose or you've pulled a wire loose/out "jiggling" the wires.

Re: I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

That sounds like the problem I was having with my rex after I swapped the engine. In my case the fuse for the rear tail lights also ran the dash lights, my guess to tell you that the rear brakes lights are out. But my fuse was fine, the socket that holds the fuse in was lose and not making contact with the fuse, you could push the fuse to the left and it would work. Let it sit there and nothing. I fixed it with a rubber band until I had time to take the fuse box out.

The fuses are label so odd, check all of them and make sure they have 12v and not just broken.

Re: I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

the harness is fine I checked it last night.

going to remove the panel under the steering wheel tomorrow to check for anything loose.

Daniel, all the running lights are on the same fuse with the dash lights on the prelude too.

I feel that it is a wiring issue. There is either something with the combo switch or a red/green wire or maybe a red/black wire.

Re: I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

It looks like it use to. The op mentions left over wires and I'm sure they have something to do with it. It has a little motion sensor left behind too thats what makes me think it is alarm wiring.

Knox, if you get this fixed, let me know lol. I'm in the same boat you are. I'll do some searching and see if I can't figure anything out on it.

So far, all my fuses are fine, and all my wires are in snug. I dunno what's going on.

Re: I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

the best thing you can do really is to get a manual for the car, and look at the wiring schematice to find the common denominator to all of the things gloing wrong.

I had to do this with my accord. I kept blowing the horn/brake fuse, and was having some strange ecu probs too....after checking all the obvious connections and ruling them out, I found that the only thing all of those circuits had in common was the brake switch of all things....pulled it, tested it, and it was bad...lol

Hope you find your problem

Re: I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

Ok so in the blue plug the red/black wire was loose in the plug. Fixed it. Caboose I hope this helps.

Also my fiance's brother-in-law (redneckdave from ht) helped by ripping out the old wiring from the alarm.

Re: I'm stumped.. Lighting issue.

Well it actually stopped working the next morning. It ended up being in the c909 plug (the grey plug under the blue plug in the dash fuse panel) the red/black wire needs to be repined it was damaged.
