oil pump or dizzy, not both. just depends on whether you wanna do electrical work, or mechanical work.

okay, so you can't do both? i'm guessing the distributor (since it has the external coil) would most likely be easier to do than the oil pump.

Re: h22 swap question involving h23 parts.

you can do both, but there's no reason.

there's some OBD1 dizzy's w/ all 3 sensors in them, where OBD2, the TDC and CKP sensors are on the oil pump. so the easiest way is to just extend the wires from the dizzy.

Re: h22 swap question involving h23 parts.

okay. so i definitely want to use the h23 distributor rather than the h22 internal coil distributor and just make some modifications to the h23 dizzy. the oil pump is unnecessary, how about the fuel rail and the timing tensioner? and is there anything else i'm missing?

you dont NEED to do the tensioner. people just do it for peace of mind. the auto tensioners are notorious for failing

Re: h22 swap question involving h23 parts.

okay. yeah i've heard that. and since i have an h23 right now i'll have it already. heres the deal. my buddy is selling me 2 h22 heads, one jdm on usdm, one needs valves, one needs cams. the jdm one is ported and polished. enough parts to make one good one outta two. he's giving me the intake mani, the alternator, the throttle body etc for 150. i found a guy selling a nice mint block for 150. gasket set on ebay for 40 bucks, and i have an extra h23 5spd tranny laying around. i'll need an ecu and misc parts. so all in all i will have an h22 for around 4 to 500 dollars minus the misc parts.

Re: h22 swap question involving h23 parts.

Hah, well since your obd1 wiring the dizzy is the way to go since it will cost you nothing, unless you need to buy some wires which is still like nothing.

Re: h22 swap question involving h23 parts.

yeah i'll go that route. and the fuel rail is compatible? nobodys answered that yet. i hear the jdm fuel rail's fuel line is on the opposite side, but the h23's fuel rail is almost identical and will work
