Loss of power..

So I discovered today that if I press the gas pedal all the way down I wont spin tires, in fact i'll slowly start to speed up. When I reverse it goes normal but when ever im going foward it accelerates really slow. I thought about a clogged fuel filter or cat but im not sure where to start with this, any suggestions?

Re: Loss of power..

Good idea starting with a fuel filter. Another thing to do is have the fuel pressure tested. When was your last tune up? plugs/wires/cap/rotor

Re: Loss of power..

To be honest im not sure, I bought this lude about 3 months ago for me and my dad to work on and Ive only drove it a handful of times since I got it. Although when we went to pick the car up it looked like it had been sitting there for awhile. And theres only been 1000 miles put on it in the last 5 years. So chances are im going to get a tune up anyway.

Re: Loss of power..

Sitting eh?

CHECK YO KNOCK SENSOR!

Mine sat for roughly 2 years, and it ran well for the first few weeks, but then my power took a hit. Acceleration was bad, vtec would hit ok, 1-2k rpm would be alright, but 2-4k were sluggin.

I knew of the problem before I pulled the CEL, but it only confirmed it. Your knock sensor might be bad. It fiddles with your timing, and if its not working properly, you'll get the exact problems your telling us. If you CEL is on, pull the code. If its not, try unscrewing it, and putting it back in. Play with the wires..etc. It's located above the oil filter, as you're under the car.
