15" to 14" wheel switch

I need to switch from 15" wheel size to 14". Has this been done? I can't find anything on it. my car is a 95 vtec all stock. wheels? Calipers? rotors? knuckles? etc. anybody know?

Re: 15" to 14" wheel switch

Front calipers and rotors should do it -- the rest of the suspension is common to the 4th gen Prelude S, which had 14" wheels stock. But why...these days, there's probably more of a choice in 15" wheels and tires than 14".

Re: 15" to 14" wheel switch

i know it seems odd to go the "other" way. The car is a dedicated race car and with a rule cap on tread wear rating at 200. this leaves the falken 612k the best tire, which only comes in 14" with a 60 series. 60 series is another rule restriction, so 14" I must go. thanks!

Re: 15" to 14" wheel switch

I guess i'll be finding out about fitting it all. the first step looks like finding a 14" wheel to see what will fit and what won't. thanks for the reply's..

Re: 15" to 14" wheel switch

The VTEC model has larger diameter front brake rotors than the S. Like ludeauthority said there isn't a whole lot of room between the wheel and caliper on the vtec model. You could install rotors/calipers/brackets from an S or SI if they don't clear, but your brakes would suffer.

I understand building to classing rules, otherwise I'd have upgraded to the larger front brakes long ago!

Re: 15" to 14" wheel switch

when i get some time, maybe i'll try and find someone in western Washington do a swap for my complete vtec brake system. the car only has 24k on it. i think it even still has the factory pads. it was rolled and then parked for ten years, or so. "the engine rocks" with the car gutted and no glass at about 2000 lbs.

Gutted, sunroof replaced with a metal panel, and windows gone or replaced with Lexan? Sounds about right. Wouldn't be pleasant on the street, though -- like driving inside a resonator. :)
