Mishimoto Radiator & Transmission Cooler

So I'm in the process of rebuilding my Lude and I'm starting to buy parts. The car is currently auto (yea yea yea I know trust me I wasn't happy about it either) and I'm looking into radiators and have decided on a Mishimoto. With non manuals it requires a transmission cooler which is all well and good gotta do what I have to do to have it. My questions are...will both of these together just be a straight fit or will some type of modification be needed? Has anyone had these before and what should I be looking for during the install? Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Mishimoto Radiator & Transmission Cooler

have not used the trans cooler, but the radiator is a direct fit. and it has a lifetime warranty.
you might have to notch the radiator support brackets so they don't rub agains the radiator, this will cause a leak.
slimline fans are a must with any dual core aluminum radiator, the stock fans will not fit. mishimoto also sells these fans and a fan shroud. I've installed them, and they are nice.

Thanks for the reply I asked a friend of mine about the fans he said stock would be fine I disagreed but he swore by it so that's good to know. Now that I know he's an idiot I won't bother asking him anymore.

Re: Mishimoto Radiator & Transmission Cooler

with the stock manifold, you might have enough clearance. The last one I installed had a mugen header, so the stock fans would not have worked. I'm fairly certain you will need slim fans regaurdless

I plan on a new header also so I'll just stick with buying all new. If I'm gonna do it I might as well do it proper and get it all. I feel that's how it should be done.

most people do things cheaply and halfassed and then complain about the product or methods we advised them on, when they didn't fully follow our instruction. We're used to dealing with DIY disasters lol.

good luck with this mod, take plenty of pictures for us, and let us know how it works out for you. PM codyh, he might be able to get you a hookup on mishimoto products!

Oh...well I say ya get what ya pay for and if you rush through sh*t it's always gonna be halfa$$ed. Thanks for the good luck I'll need it I'm sure and I'll be sure to take pics. Still putting my list of "needs" together and figuring things out it will be a slow build but every thing is one step at a time for me.

Re: Mishimoto Radiator & Transmission Cooler

you can see the clearance issues you'll have if you don't switch to the slimline fans. even with the new fans, there isn't much clearance. we also used the mishimoto silicone hoses, I highly recommend them.

we notched the brackets so they wouldn't rub on the corners or the rad, this will wear a hole it it eventually. (you don't have to notch both sides, we had them on the wrong side at first and ended up cutting them wrong lol) you can also stack a few washers under the bracket instead of notching it. get new rubber bushings from honda, we didn't and there is too much play. (got the new bushings after a couple of weeks)

we cut the wires on the stock fans, before the connectors and spliced them to the new fans. this way if anything ever has to be removed for service or replacement, you can just disconnect the stock connectors.

you'll do great.

Oh yea there's not much room there at all I see what you meant now. Pics always help me understand a little more lol. One question I did have was about the fan shroud from Mishimoto. They have for 97-01 but not for 93. How's that work out? Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong area of the site.

Re: Mishimoto Radiator & Transmission Cooler

So after emailing Mishimoto I found out they do not offer a Fan Shroud for the 4th Gen. Which sucks a$$ for my "I'd like to keep everything through the same company" idea. So I'm in need of a Fan Shroud. Anyone have any recommendations?

Re: Mishimoto Radiator & Transmission Cooler

Ya just buy one or two of their single fans. Then you can either wire them up to your old radiator fan plugs or setup the toggle switch..
