Engine question....

I've recently been on the lookout for an engine so I did a search but didn't find anything on the forum. I've been seeing H23 Vtec engines on different websites. I didn't know there was a H23 vtec that came preassembled. Is this legit and if so would this engine fit in a 92 Prelude? Thanks ahead of time.

H23 Pre-assembled?

Yes, if you get lucky enough.

Fitment?

Definitely

Awesome. That will probably be the route I take in engine selection. Anyone know how reliable they are from experience? Would hate to get an engine that is known to be a headache.

Re: Engine question....

should be very reliable . from what i can gather to keep the red line high honda actually balanced the entire rotating assembly from the factory . i installed mine 2 weeks ago and it runs like a top . the mid range tq is amazing . drives like a totally diff car . a better one lol

Re: Engine question....

Did you run into any complications when installing the H23 Vtec into your car. I see a couple that say they are for the years 97-01, would it be harder to get it to work properly in a 92 Prelude that came H23 non vtec or would it just be plug n play basically? Sorry for all the questions.

Re: Engine question....

there are a TON of threads on this, I did research on this myself. A quick search should do the trick.

Basically you are looking at having to switch the motor to OBD I. You will need to wire vtec and best bet is to run a chipped p28 ECU, but its not required.

This engine to me is the best option. Same HP as the JDM H22, longer stroke, more low end torque, and vtec at a more usable rpm...on the street. Good luck!
