Re: transmission engine combos

My brother had a 1995 honda accord with jdm h22a swap. but left the f22 tranny and clutch. The gears were really long and every time he shifted it go out of vtec so it was slow. But right now he has a h22 95 honda prelude with h22a1 but with h23 tranny, its fast but gears are too short. on the free way at 70mph rpm is like almost 4000rpm

So what Im saying is that the only good tranny for a h22 is its mate, h22 tranny. How ever I thought about getting a h23 tranny but with a h22 or f22 5th gear.

Re: transmission engine combos

All F and H series motors (Barring the F20C and F22C obviously) have interchangeable clutches and flywheels.

But yeah...performance can suffer when using different motor/tranny setups. I was thinking about running my H23 tranny with my H22 when I swap it into my BB2, but I think I'm just going to swap the 5th gear from my H23 tranny into my H22 tranny so I can keep the revs somewhat reasonable on the freeway. Idk though. lol

Re: transmission engine combos

alright sweet thnx bros. the reason i was considering the f22 tranny is cause im doing up a g22 turbo. i figured staying in each gear longer would be better cause of longer periods of boost. i have an h22a1 with a hole in the block right now so its cheapest to go that route. if the clutches and flywheels are interchangeable then i can use my h22 tranny and pick up an f22 tranny for like $100 and dont like it i can just switch back. i never thought of jumping out of vtec though, very good thing to consider
