g22 vs h22a

i have a 93 vtec lude with a hole blown in the side of the motor so im debating whether to go jdm h22a or g22. im going turbo right off the bat. so i have a few question.

1st: is will all of my wiring and accesseries like the altenator, p/s, cruise all that hook right up to an f22b block?

2nd: does the h22a1 head just plop right on or does it require alot of custom fab work? i do all the work myself and am very mechanically inclined so a little fab work is no big deal but i dont want to have to reengineer the wheel or anything like that.

3rd: i understand that the f22b is supposedly better for turbo cause of lower compression, but are the internals able to handle 10-15 psi reliably for a daily driver or will i have to go forged for reliability?

4th will i see any difference in horsepower between a boosted h22a and a boosted g22? im looking for ~400hp on the top end of my build with a lower psi tune (5-6) for daily driving and a higher psi tune (10-15) for racing

i want to do this the right way and not damage the integrity of the motor but like most of us here im on a budget as it is and if i can save $1500 and still turbo like i want i will. thanks for the input everyone

You will not hit 400 hp with an F22 @ 10-15 psi and stock internals... at least I don't think so. Here's a thread on Honda-Tech with a G22 build.
F22b2 block+H22a1 head, F22 VTEC, F22B/VTEC - Honda-Tech

just a little fab work. But, its not to hard.

Depends on how good your tune is and how big of a turbo you are running. I would say no to 12-15, but a really good tune could run it. I mean, a really really good tune

Yes. you will see significant HP differences between the two. Naturally, with huge changes in compression ratios come large changes in power. A piston compresses air just like a turbo will. Its like running 10lbs of boost vs 8lbs of boost. (Not a bad analogy at all)

FYI:
f22 compression will be around 8.5:1
h22a is 10.6:1 (h22a1/a4 is 10:1)

Next factor between the two: Stroke! and stroke means Torque! Torque means power, like HP. Low end HP. The longer the stroke, the more torque the motor is going to produce, and the powerband is usually shifted lower in the rpm range.

f22: 95mm
h22:90.7

Well... the idea is build it right once(hopefully) and spend alot of cash. Or, raid the junkyard for a new block every so often for cheap and keep redoing it. Depends on what you wanna do. Ive witnessed it done both ways very well.

The key is the tune though!

Re: g22 vs h22a

alright preciate it it bros. ive been reading for hours now and i finally realized that the f22 has iron sleeves, yay for that. i still want to do it right so im probably going to run by the junk yard to pick up an f22 block and start saving for forged pistons and rods. i like low compression cause that means more boost for more fun, its all personal preference i guess. preciate your guys help. im still trying to find information on the f22 crank other than that it has the same main bearing as an h22a1 and h23a1. supposedly the h22a1 crank can handle ?900? hp. i know its forged im just trying to find out if the f22 is as well or will i have to scrounge up a crank too?
