Car is heating up, almost over heating

When I drive my 93 lude for more then 60km it starts come up in temp. sometimes when Iam stopped and sometimes when Iam actually driving, it hasnt gone into the red yet, usually it goes up to 3rd or 4th bar, but it has gotten up to the 5th bar, the temp will come up, and then go back down pretty quickly, I cant smell any rad fluid burning. My fans are def. coming on, and when I pop the hood it doesnt seem overly hot, and my rad cap seems to be at a normal temp, I have been running the engine with one dead cylinder for about a month, is my engine just finally giving up?

May have an air bubble in the cooling system. I dnt think ur engine is "giving up" on you bc regardless dead cylinder or not if the cooling system works properly it should stay at normal running temperature.Unless you have a blown head gasket. Any white smoke from the exhaust?

No white smoke it's put putting from the bad cylinder plus I can't smell that distintive maple syrupy smell
i didn't even think of an air bubble I'll bleed my system if I get the time tommrow

Also on a sidenote when it's up on the temp gauge I turn the car off and then turn it back on and the temp gauge is back at normal

I still say air bubble, could be a temperature sensor also.Or a thermostat sticking. All simple fixes really. Bleed it and let me know

It SOUNDS like an air bubble.

Did the problem start after you did any work on it?

The thing about your coolant system is if there is a leak somewhere, it doesnt take long for it to become a major problem, so make sure to keep an eye on it.

Put a sheet of cardboard under the car after you park it and leave it over night to see if it leaking fluid.

Also, you dont need to bleed it. That will just cause more air to enter the system. Run the car until it heats up, shut it down, and then open the coolant reservoir. It should start boiling, which is the air exiting the system. After it stops bubbling add more fluid to full. Repeat the process until it doesn't boil.

i have a question about the cooling system every other day i have to check on my coolant because everytime i drive and stop and get out i can hear my radiator trying to suck the coolant back frm the reservoir tank but i dont know where the fluid is going...theres no white smoke either...anything that u guys know of?

Whatever you do, DO NOT open the radiator cap until it has cooled down.

Like said above you may have a leak, it could be a tiny crack somewhere. It may not leak when its idling but will when you drive. The pressure on the cooling system when driving could open the crack enough for coolant to leak out. And you wouldn't notice bc obviously your driving.Get someone to do a pressure check on your radiator and see what you come up with.
