Word. DO research bud. You can't just slap its ass and be done, in order for it to work properly you need to do quite a bit of modifying.

Yep, you're going to have to add some wires and possibly modify the coil. There are plenty of pages explaining in detail

Alot of people talk about the swap, but if you research it. Kno1 explains how to "properly perform" The H23 Vtec.

I'm currently running the H23-Vtec hybrid in my car .. worth it for sure, but you just have to take your time building it and do not rush the process. This motor combination is quite fragile in a sense that if you miss a step during the build it automatically will throw off the whole balance and reliability factor. Research it completely before purchasing anything, then purchase all the right parts and tools.
If this is your first motor teardown and rebuild then I would recommned you purchase the h23a rather than attempt to build the H23-Vtec yourself.

I already have a H23a mint (only 45k on it). But I just bought a H22 Vtec head also. Can you explain what you did and what parts you had to get?

Im running a h23 VTEC as well. Mine is built off of a H22 using a h23 crank and rods. Most of the parts needed are from a h22 to do the build such as water pipe and water pump.

It really all depends on your goals on how to go about it and there is alot of information on doing the hybrid out there. Im using H22a pistons for my motor for the compression. Plus, Im putting down more power on a 75 shot of nitrous than the guy with the boosted h23vtec above, but Im running above 11.5:1 compression.

Whatever you choose. Have the ENTIRE rotating assembly balanced by a competent machinist.

I shouldn't really care, but I have to ask .. where is your proof ?? .. Compression means very little when you use Forced-Induction for power. I'm at 9.3:1 but that equals roughly 5-10 whp less than you throughout the entire rpm range, which I disregard anyways. Do you have a Dyno sheet ? i'm interested in seeing it.

I don't think you know what the h23a motor is .. you're confusing it with your current h23a1 motor. H23a is the JDM rare-breed motor, 2.3 Liter VTEC stock, commonly known as Bluetop motor, and is more expensive than the JDM h22a .. and if you already have this motor than you don't have to do anything else, just swap it in and enjoy.

hey sorry dont mean to tread jack, bt im thinking of doing the samebuild. ive been wondering if i can just drop in crank and rods in the h22 to make it simpler. also how thick of a head gasket if ima use h22 pistons im aiming for a comp ratio of 10, since it will be a dd and i can only get 91 octane in my area.
