Need some help identifying this engine.

I'm near buying a 4th gen. Lude, and I found one, which apparently has an "H22" and is an SI-Vtec, but when I asked for engine pics I got this, which to me looks nothing like an H22 that I've seen any help? Thanks in advance.

Re: Need some help identifying this engine.

that motor is "h23a1" and the model it came in is "Si". It does not have VTEC. Ask the seller for the VIN number and type that into car-fax and see what model it shows you. You can also see the engine code stamp on the block casing near the starter if you go and look at the car in person, block stamp should read H23A1

Re: Need some help identifying this engine.

I had an idea that it was an H23, thanks again for the info.

Definitely H23a1.

You can enter the VIN in the link below and it will give you information on the car.

Re: Need some help identifying this engine.

you can also look to the left of the engine on the stamp. It will tell you the type as well... if its still there.

Re: Need some help identifying this engine.

Yeah, I haven't seen the car yet, I'm going tomorrow, the car is priced pretty cheap already so I'm more under the impression that when he bought it, he was lied to and never did his research.

Thanks again to all the replies, I'll be sure to practice caution.

Re: Need some help identifying this engine.

well i read he was close to buying it so i figured he was going to look at it sooner or later. so hes going to be able to find that out on his own. But the reason i say that over a vin number is because its not that hard to F up somtin like that. The car could have came with a H22 but got a H23 swapped into it or somthing...
