Where2Buy H22A1 Gasket for .20 Over Block

Hey guys/gals I was looking for some input on where I could find head gaskets for my H22A1 block that's bored .20 over thanks I'm looking to buy an entire gasket set but I want to buy a separate head gasket also. Thanks!

use OEM headgasket. the headgsket is actually a little larger than 87mm (~ 87.xx mm) and comes this way from Honda. use OEM and you'll be fine.
Buy OEM and buy from the Honda dealer.

that could be your oil rings on the pistons. The FRM sleeves are notorious for wearing down after a while and allowing some oil to blow by. Done a leakdown test on it?

Buy OEM and buy from the Honda dealer.
OEM is 88mm. Your Block is ~87.5mm.. Clearance is enough. Compression bump... heh

agreed. I would replace valve seals and rings. Both are h22 oil fiends. The overbore has me worried if your having oil consumption issues. How long has it been this way?

Re: Where2Buy H22A1 Gasket for .20 Over Block

its been this way for a while I think I just purchased the car about two weeks ago, and my plan was to replace the valve seals and the head gasket as well as other gaskets that needed to be replaced. the motor was rebuilt around 20K ago so the piston rings shouldn't be too worn out but ill take a look at em once i pull the head. I just wanna get rid of the embarrassing smoke when I hit VTEC or when I'm coming out of 1st. and as for the leakdown test I think it passed with about 8% only leaking

burning oil at high rpm is rings . smoke on start up is valve seals . unless valve seals are really bad usually dont burn oil except on start up . weeps by as the motor sits and drops onto the valve or into the cyc . i cant think of one time ive ever seen a car burn oil after start up from valve seals

I don't have anything useful to add... these guys have got you covered.

if you have the right exhaust, get used to having a nice puff of smoke when you go WOT to redline! I use very little oil, but I still see it behind me sometimes, and the evidence is on the bumper!

good luck!

Re: Where2Buy H22A1 Gasket for .20 Over Block

ok yeah its smokes pretty bad when I'm doing city driving. around high way speeds it kinda mellows out, either that or i'm going too fast for me to see the smoke. but it's at its worst when I'm going through shifts in stop go situations.

Re: Where2Buy H22A1 Gasket for .20 Over Block

im gonna chime in here seeing as it is my old car.
the block was bored .20 over when i built it to gain max displacement.
after built it pulled 200lbs of comp.

before i sold the car i did extensive testing on the oil burning but was about to loose my wife over a car i was constantly working on and my driving job none the less. i took one last wack at the car to fix every problem i could and howlude here came and bought the car, i gave him a good deal in lue of the repairs he might be looking at to repair the smoking issue.
the week i sold the car it pulled 180's on all cylinders. it would smoke bad if you would engine break and introduce hi amounts of vacuum as well as when vtec is engaged. i discussed this with my father in law an ase master tech and a few other individuals even had a few look at it, they explained with the compression numbers i was getting it had to be valve seals.
i needed a tremendously reliable and more fuel efficient car for my job and i had to let it go without taking the time to investigate further...
I built the **** out of that motor and it hurt me to have to let it go....
the car was great and reliable for the average joe but with my job making me put about 200-400 miles A DAY on the car my maintaince and break down intervals were getting a little to much to take. that and the 20mpg
