rear sway bar 4ws

just recently broke my rear sway bar somehow. do i have to go oem replacement since i have 4ws or can i get an aftermarket one online? and also will it really affect much? i drove it after i noticed and i haven't noticed any difference. it's always clunked in the back anyway haha. let me know

Re: rear sway bar 4ws

i think it should be just fine to go with an aftermatket sway bar, and recommended, i would say..

I think the rule is, if u got a fwd car, big, thick sway bar in the back, keeps the rear real stiff in corners and keeps front wheels down on road.
Rwd cars gotta have em big and stiff in the front, so the rear tires stay planted,
I would say dont go above i think its 1.5 inch for front bar and 2-2.5 inches for the rear bar, im not 100% sure, but i think thats the area...

Re: rear sway bar 4ws

I don't think 4WS models use the regular 4th and 5th gen sway bar. When i bought mine all the companies said excluding SH and 4WS models.

Re: rear sway bar 4ws

Underneath. If you get under the rear of the car...it's basically the big bar that runs across the underside of the car. It's hard to miss lol.

are you kidding me?!?!??!! i know this is 4th gen but 5th gens bars are interchangable. the biggest rear bar made is 28.. thats a little over 1 inch. 1 inch = 25.4mm i think the biggest front is around 32mm but dont quote me on that part. i put a 27mm on mine and it made the ass end SUPER stiff

i read somewhere someone had a 4WS lude, and still put the progress rear sway on it and it fit. he just couldnt put it on the stiffest setting (it has 3 settings)

Re: rear sway bar 4ws

its under the car. i looked at my buddies 2ws and it looked the same as the 4ws. i just dont want to have to pay a **** ton for an oem replacement so i wanted to go the aftermarket route. i just cant figure out if i can get an aftermarket for a 4ws cause most of the ones i saw weren't compatible

Re: rear sway bar 4ws

Definitely put the biggest one you can find on it. I have a 22mm solid bar on the back and the standard one on the front, and since i put the coilovers in the back is so stiff and responsive, it's great. I'm pretty sure they're the same for all 4th gens, the sway bar has nothing to do with the 4WS. It is certainly one of the easiest mods you can do. If i was going to buy again i'd probably get the Tanabe, its 1" and hollow so it should be stronger and lighter than the one i have, and its orange so it'd look sweet from the back.

Re: rear sway bar 4ws

Warning though, A stiffer sway WILL eventually rip off the mounts from the frame unless you get beefier mounts.

umm there are only two mounts that bolt to the frame. If that is what your talking about then yes that is what we are talking about.
