clutch issues

hey all,

So a couple of months back I had to change the cluth slave cylinder because it went for a crap and started leaking like crazy. So i changed it and it worked great not a problem for the past few months. So now it's doing the same crap again except of course this time it's not the slave cylinder i am pretty sure it's the master. The problem is i can't see a leak anywhere on it to verify that it is. The only problem i have noticed on it. is there is a some sort of meshy hose that comes off the side of it. (not the steel line that all the fluid goes threw) anyways that hose looks like crap the mesh looks all moist and i can turn it and all i highly doubt it's holding a seal but my question is what does that hose do?

Re: clutch issues

No more CLUTCH PROBLEM threads!!!

there are 2 lines coming off the clutch master cylinder;
the rubber hose which comes from the fluid reservoir, and the metal line which goes to the slave.

Re: clutch issues

when i got my lude within 3 weeks the rubber hose that connects the firewall side hard clutch lines to the trans side, started leaking.
then the slave, then the master
i already knew the clutch the previous owner put in was a rediclous stage and
pressure plate. it took alot of force to depress

then the clutch fork pivot ball stud broke
i was able to replace it as seen here HELP clutch fork pivot ball stud replacement ?

However- about a month later the slave started to leak again
and i went to honda for bolth my master and slave
they were good parts
a mere days later i snapped the steel members that connect the pressure plate disk to clutch fingers assembly

Also 5th gear grinded every time and hi-revving gear changes would promote grinding. reverse also grinded badly.

i went back to a OEM pressure plate only, and kept the stage 3 plate

ALL PROBLEMS VANISHED. NO MORE GRINDS AT ALL
and i didnt have to replace the slave again...

just food for thought for anyone out there experiencing clutch issues that seem abnormal...

Re: clutch issues

if you look under your dash you will usually see the master leaking above your pedal where the rod goes in . not hard to change at all and not to pricey either

Re: clutch issues

Seems like promising advice. But I was just wondering what the purpose of that rubber line is?
