Start frankenstein build w/ f22 or f23????

Ok So I wanted to take my time and build a nice f/h Frankenstein to drop into my 95 but my dd is dying on me. I already yanked my f22 out leavn everything except the engine so an f22 would be a direct drop and about 400$. But if I Start of with the f23 I can use k20 pistons and slap on a h22vtec head later on however the f23 is odb2 and I also am not shure if Ll the f22 components that are already in my car will bolt up to the 23. I'm would like to orde one of these f's tommarrow and build up as I go. Eventually goin turbo what would be my best bet to start off with???

If you plan to go turbo, then why would you put K20 pistons in it? Unless you're doing low compression forged units. Although the stock low compression F23 cast pistons would hold up just fine for most setups

Re: Start frankenstein build w/ f22 or f23????

Yea ikno the k20 pistons are benifical if I was goin n/a. I have yet to discover if any one has done the f23block, k20postons,h22head and then turboed it. And yea some nice f22 or f23 aftermarkets pistons would get the job done and be cheaper but havn k20 pistons just sounds like it would be savage.

Rite now I'm thinkn I should juz go f22 it would be direct swap and I dnt really need the extra .1 liter for a turbo build.

Thanks for those links I'll read em b4 I post any mo questions

Re: Start frankenstein build w/ f22 or f23????

I've been talking to a guy on HT with that exact same setup. He used K20A3 pistons because they're lower compression than the others. The key part is to flip them backwards because of the piston offset. Then you just have to regrind the valve reliefs because the exhaust ones that are now on the intake side are not big enough. He's now about 1000 miles and going strong
