carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

Hey guys:

So I just ran a carfax report on my 95 lude and it shows that there was some tampering with the mileage on the car...possibly a rollback on the odometer. I bought the car about a month ago from a shop/mechanic down the street from my house and I just want to make sure that I have enough support to return the car and get my money back without any hassle.

Also, how the hell do people roll back the odometer in these cars???

Just wanted to get peoples opinions on it, let me know guys!!!

There's a post on here about how to check if your odometer mileage is as close as the engine mileage.

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

it probably wasn't the dealer ship.....because you have to register the vehicle with DMV and they report the info to car fax for example. dealer ships don't register vehicles, all they do is sign the back of the title and proof of sale invoice over to the buyer.

with that said they don't take back cars either, almost 94% of dealer ships sells cars AS IS. thats why you should have gotten a Car fax report on your vehicle before you bought it...not trying to be mean here, but its the truth.

on top of that, someone else could have swapped the odometer, like a previous owner, and they could have done it just because it wasn't working, its not always for hacks.

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

Yea I know! The carfax report never crossed my mind because the mechanic is a known person we go to all the time and we bought it from them which is a private party. I'm hoping something can get worked out, if not I guess I have to bite the bullet.

What's a good idea to do with the car that has something like that done to it? Mod the hell out of it or just use it as a parts car? I don't want to be involved in that stupid fraud stuff of odometer rollback, if any.

Where is that link at for the rollback?

Thanks guys!!!

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

Odds are the guy you got it from may not have known about the odometer issue, but there's really nothing you can do about it. Should have gotten a Carfax before hand. Anyway how many miles does it say it has? And how does it run?

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

If she runs fine and everything works except the mileage is off, then why bother to bring it back?

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

Well the car runs but it needs some engine work like maybe a new headgasket and maybe a valve adjustment and white smoke comes from the exhaust and there is an oil leak. Other than that the car is okay I just don't want to risk the fact that there could be a lot more done with the car that is hard to find. In 2003 it had 203k miles and in 2006 it went down to 65k.

Thank you guys for all the input!!

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

Haha, a 95 with 65k miles on it? Thats very strange, especially with all the problems the engine does have. Something should have clicked when you were looking at it. ><

Did you buy it for big money since it did have "low miles?" If you have the money, do a swap. JDM engine, all and all you can spend 3k on the change and have an engine with 20-50k miles on it. Import's will last forever if taken care of.

Dont get to down on it, I did the same thing with my first car. My miles turn over 10k every 1k, started at 130k, I'm now at like 210k a year later. And it was a junkyard engine. -.-; But I patched it up, and its been fine ever since.

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

oh no no no, when i bought the car last month it had 101k and they told me that the car was sitting for 2 years so i assumed that was the reason for the low miles hahah....stupid!!!

But yea, I'll look into the swap just have to save up the money first. What type of engine should I look into? Maybe I can make the best of this situation and end up with a sweet lude hahaha.

DAMN YOU SHADY PEOPLE!!!!!

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

The mileage info was all found through the carfax report that I ran and printed out, I could see where the confusion came into play hahah my fault!!

Re: carfax report on 95 lude!!!!

For a lude, go with the JDM H22A, google it. You can get the complete swap for under 2000 usually. Engine, trans, ecu. Have some play money (500?) to buy little missing pieces here and there. And then labor.

It was my original plan. Buy a body (1000), do the swap (3500~), have a "new car" for 4500. =p
