tach jumping and engine stalling

Hi.

I recently put my prelude back on the road. New distributor, main relay, and ignition coil. Now its doing the same thing, tach jumping, and stalling out.

I hard wired the distributor in to rule out and bad connectors, and still wont run right.

This car is beginning to drive me insane!

Thanks. Tim B.

Have you checked the Ignition control module?

hmmm.. one thing i see you didnt mention... have you checked the ground lines? apparently they cause the tach to jump and also stall... there's one under the thermostat near the one side of the intake manifold.. it might be lose or connection is poor.. so maybe tighten it or take it out and clean it... i hope this helps..

Re: tach jumping and engine stalling

thanks for the help!

I checked all my ground wires again, and in the prosess I found the problem.

It seems like its a bad conection were the harness splits off to the ingnition coil and to the distributor.

Think its worth trying to repair? or should I just source a new harness?

Thanks. Tim B.
