Some issues with my car

Hey guys:

So there are a couple of things that I'm experience with my 95 lude and I just wanted to get some info. on how to fix it or what I should do to make it better.

First, when I drive my car going from a stop to a start and shifting gears, a white smoke comes from my exhaust, any ideas as to what could be causing that?

Second, my A/C system seems to blow from the top to bottom regardless of what setting I have my buttons on (head, head&feet, feet etc.). Any idea as to what this could be or why this is happening?

Thanks guys I hope I was clear enough on those, but I would love the feedback on this!

Re: Some issues with my car

white smoke is either water or coolant burning. if you smell it and it smells like coolant or sweet than its the coolant. hopefully not, because that means you might need a new head gasket.
as for the dash maybe a pinched wire or short some where ( i have no idea just a guess)

s**t, that's exactly what it smells like, it has a burnt/sweet smell to it. Do you know how much that runs to get a new gasket? And as far as the dash should I just rip it apart and find if there is a pinch somewhere?

no idea on the price but if you can and have the time do it yourself if not it would probably cost around $300-$500 i would think, but then again i have no idea on the price.

as for the dash wait and see what other have to say or search and see if you can find something

Is it hard to replace the head gasket? it seems like it'll be something that is very time consuming and needs someone who is engine savvy, which i'm not, any suggestions or DIYs?

I have the same problem, need to get my head gasket replaced soon also. NOT a DIY job, you'll need to have it at a shop for a couple of days most likely. The cheapest guy in town (SoCal) is charging me $175 labor and the gasket is another $50 or so. Plan on spending $300+ unless you can find a deal. Good luck!

Re: Some issues with my car

As for that smell and white smoke....it's most likely your gasket that's worn. That needs a shop to replace.

As for the ac blowing in all areas no matter which direction you choose...I had the same issue when I bought my car. It's your climate control unit. The electric part within is prob burnt. I bought mine for about $30 on Ebay!!! And it's an OEm one too!!!!

It's somewhat easy to replace but jus that the cable that switches from hot to cold is annoying bc you have to detach the old one and reconnect the new one from underneath!!! It's a b*tch but not that hard to do.

As for the dash...check the fuses either on the driverside beside where you pop the hood open latch or the fusebox in the engine bay area!!! start with that first!!!

If you're interested in buying a new climate control unit, I'm selling the one out of my 96'. Lemme know!

Nice, how much you looking at? Including shipping? and will that for sure fix the issue of the A/C blowing correctly based off the buttons? Thanks!
