Throttle Body

Quick question for all...my throttle body is giving me problems, esp when I'm attempting to do spirited driving. There's like a slight delay in acceleration, and it becomes annoying after a while...especially the fact that I have an H22 that I want to take full advantage of! Lol. Anyways, If I were to look for an aftermarket throttle body, where would I look to get a new one for a good price? And how wide should it be for any performance gains? The motor is off of a '99 prelude and my car is a '92 Si

Re: Throttle Body

So what do you think is wrong with your throttle body? Is it sticking or something? Or is it throwing a sensor code?

Re: Throttle Body

Are you sure it isn't something simple like inefficient spark? A crook plug (or plugs) would cause a similar loss of performance.

Re: Throttle Body

a throttle body on its own would do next to nothing. best bet would be an oem replacement. or if youre actually going to do work later on, an S2K TB

Re: Throttle Body

you could probably pick up a S2K TB for between 100-150, but why would you say its your TB? maybe it just needs to be cleaned or something simple like stated above

Re: Throttle Body

I just got bought the car from my mechanic, and he pointed out that this was the problem. So he just suggested me to get another one. Where can I get an S2K one...and how many millimeters is it?

Re: Throttle Body

^ FYI, this is the second car that I've bought from him...I've never had a problem with the previous car that I bought from him. In addition, the provlem didn't bother him at all, since it was his daily driver. If you have any negative comments like what you've just said, keep it to yourself. I have no room for ignorance at all. All help or nothing please

Re: Throttle Body

i think the S2k is 62mm, dont hold me on that though. and you can find them on here, ebay, craigslist...basically anywhere that will have car parts. i bought and sold mine here, if you want, shoot Bustr a PM and see if he has one laying around.

Re: Throttle Body

To the OP; S2000 TB's stock have a 66mm inlet and 62.7mm outlet. Though I'm not sure if they differ between the AP1 and the AP2, so that's something you'll wanna look into to double check my info. I believe the AP2 houses a larger inlet and outlet- 68mm in and just under a 65mm out (64.9mm?).

As for the problem you're having, I also do not believe you'd be experiencing it as a result of a throttle body malfunction unless you had an electric wireless throttle setup like Infiniti G35's have. I would check into what Brash said-check your spark and the basic things related-plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor- Those are all cheap things to replace and necessary every so often anyway, so it's a good place to start. You might also wanna consider running some fuel injector cleaner through your system, like Seafoam, and work from there. Good luck buddy.

Re: Throttle Body

Oh and if you ARE planning on upgrading your intake manifold in the future as someone stated above, a lot of the S2K guys ditch their stock TB's pretty often so I'd recommend maybe searching through a few of their forums to find one before you splurge on a brand new one.
