questions about my si

I just bought a 1994 honda prelude si and I have a couple of questions. First, when bringing it home going 65mph on the highway the rpm was around 3700 is that normal? Second I noticed that it says to use premium gas, do you have to use and premium, and what for?

Re: questions about my si

I got an 4spd auto Prelude si that stays in that range too.
revs high in 1st before it shifts to 2nd as well, but it's fairly normal.
as for gas grade, fairly sure there's loads of threads on it in PZ.
They've been saying to just stick with premium; better economy, sensor issues, etc - just run a search on it.

Re: questions about my si

If it says Premium, then use Premium... Unless you have an F22 swapped. Any H-Series motor uses 91+. As for the RPM's, our cars have short gear ratios. That's totally normal.

Re: questions about my si

You don't have to use premium, they just put that sticker there because the higher octane petrol does a lot of damage when sniffed, so regular petrol sniffers won't siphon your fuel if they see that sticker.

The best fuel for your new ride is diesel. The high compression nature of the H-series engines work well with the compression-ignition fuel, and you'll never hafta buy spark plugs again.
