good mechanics in west palm beach fl?

so i finally boght my second prelude. i used to own a 95 prelude h23. it was in perfect mechanical and aesthetic condition when i had it. until i had an accident and it was totalled. now, i just got my second prelude.

it's a 92 SI 4WS with an H23 motor and 120K miles.

i love it because it's almost as old as i am and the motor sounds like new. however there are a couple problems with it.

0. only the front wheels turn even though is suppossed to be 4ws. the guy told me the back wheels do turn but only when you're past 20 mph. "i didn't believe him, but since he only wanted $1,800 for it i decided to take his word because i do need the car."
1. the gas/thermo reader doesn't work.
2. the motor makes a weird noise everytime i shift gears, like the way it sounds when you're going in reverse.
3. the air is cold but after like 10 minutes it gets a little warm and then cold again every 10-15 minutes.
4. it needs to be repainted cuz the paint is peeling all over.
5. when i bought the guy told me someone stold his old stereo so now all the cables are cut.
6. the air blows less and the motor looks feels like it's about to stall eveytime i make a turn.
7. the steering wheel vibrates, not a lot, but it still vibrates after 35mph
8. there are a couple more problems to the car but they don't worry me as much.

i just moved to fl. so i have no idea of any good places that i could take the car to. i do want to keep it because of the 4ws and becasue i have no other way of transportation.

however, because i am unemmployed and i just have like 2K to ivest on the car. i wanted to know if anyone in this forum knew any good mechanics that could help me out with the problems in West Palm beach.

or. if anyone has any idea of what the problems with my car are and how to fix them? because i am in a budget since i stil havent' found a job.

also, how much everything would cost? would it be worth it to fix it or is it better to let go of this one and try to find something else less problematic?

i would say try to recondition as much as possible ,you need to give more information of what you won't to do with the car .I have some one in south beach , if you need some heavy mechanical work .Also you can do the work your self , you would need a good manual ,and some tools ,and parts .The finish is all up to you ,put some pics and post updates .

#3 your air conditoner needs to be recharged. autozone, 20 bucks directions are on the back of the can, not hard at all.

#4 google $50 rustoleum paint job.

#7 sounds like a wheel weight is missing somewhere. if you have factory wheels they will be a small piece of lead attatched to the lip of your wheel and will look like a bump, you will notice it. if you have aftermarket wheels they will be somewhere on the wheel behind the spokes i beleive? someone correct me if im wrong

Re: good mechanics in west palm beach fl?

First off: At the top of the 4th gen page there should be a link for the helms manual. Download it and never look back. Second, almost all of your problems seem to be somewhat minor in cost/labor needed to fix. You can attempt to trouble shoot with the manual, and I'm fairly sure we here at pz can probably trouble shoot you through almost all of the repairs if needed.

So:

For this I would say that it is most likely (from my own assumptions, which could be off base some...I guess it could also be the temp sensor and the float in the tank, but since its both continue reading,) a bad electrical connection. Or at least I would check that first by pulling the cluster (which can be found in the manual,) and double checking the electrical clips/ wires back there.

Now do you mean the "whiiiiir" noise or the "clunk" noise or what? The more info/ description the better for us man...

As said above it may be that the A/C system needs recharging, which could mean a slow leak in the system...

With a 2k budget I would say save this for last, if not wait until you're employed and can afford to spend the amount of money needed to contribute to a paint job. Please for the love of god don't waste your money on a Maaco/Sprayglo job!

Not a big deal at all. All that is needed is a factory or aftermarket stereo and some time. You can google and get the gist of it, wiring diagrams should be avail. on the internet somewhere, just search you should be able to come up with the info. Splicing in a new radio ain't a big job at all. If you feel it is, contact LilMsPrelude. She can help you do it with both hands tied behind her back, blind folded, from 800 miles away.

To me this sounds like a problem with the power steering belt or maybe an A/C belt, but I honestly have no clue, so I'll leave this open to someone else...

ALL the reasons WHY your wheels vibrate... <<< Go there: Begin Troubleshoot/ as questions if necessary.

Re: good mechanics in west palm beach fl?

Hey... you are better off fixing the car yourself.. I haven't found any great mechanics here in S. FLorida yet.... anyway, I have an extra gas/thermo cluster and a stock radio from my 95 Prelude SE.... I'll give them to you for like 20 bucks if you want them... The cluster may work..not positive tho.... but the stock radio works fine... I live in Boynton.. PM me if ur interested... goodluck
