vtec not kickin in.....

okay so i bought a 93 prelude with a jdm h22 in it....vtec was working properly till a couple weeks ago then all of a sudden it quit on me, cant hear it activate........i replaced the silenoid n pressure switch but still no luck and it isnt throwing any cel other than the srs light staying on but i doubt that has anything to with it.....i did switch out the old cluster and replaced it with a el cluster but i also doubt that has to do with anything.....also motor has correct oil and no dents on the oil pan, so at this point i am now clueless.....

Re: vtec not kickin in.....

With haveing a jdm h22 in the car, that means obvious motor swap, which means the possibility of some wireing mods. first check the vtec wire. if the car did not have a h22 to begin with the person who did the swap would have to run this wire all the way to the ecu.The installer who ever it is could've gone the cheap easy way and in the end the less reliable way and did the twist and tape method to connect the wire or butt connectors which can come lose or the wire is ran lose in the engine bay with the possibilty of the insulation melting and now grounding itself to any metal object or find where the wire is ran through the fire wall if it does not have a grommet there then the wire could be severed or cut enough to then again ground itself out. that would be my first check to follow that wire. Especially since it was working then it stopped. and for future problem solveing please check out the vast volume of info in the search on this page instead of just posting happy hunting

wat

if the solenoid wires got messed up\disconnected it would throw a cel code.

when you replaced the solenoid did you replace the gasket with the metal screen?

do you have any oil leaks?
