Front Speakers

Just got 94 prelude and the back speakers sucked! so I just installed some new alpine speakers for the rear but now I hear that the front speakers (along the dashboard, not on the door) suck also, anyone know where they sell speakers that small?

Re: Front Speakers

Most people just kinda retro-fit speakers in there. I'm sure there is a write-up on here.

Re: Front Speakers

6.5" I believe. I have heard that they do not fit though. Most people take wood or some other material and make adapters from the OEM speaker mount to their own custom one designed to hold their aftermarket speakers. Someone might have more information, but that's what I had to do.

Re: Front Speakers

I believe he's talking about the speakers in the dash. Those are called Tweeters. Is there not mounting brackets for them in the speaker covers?

Re: Front Speakers

You're more than likely going to have to buy a full set of component speakers. This will come with 6.5 inch speakers for the door, and then the tweeters that you can put in the dash.

Re: Front Speakers

Yeah tweeters are fun lol. Every set I have ever bought never fit in the damn holes correctly so I ended up fabbing a wooden mount that would hole them in there nicely. I had to do the same thing with my door speakers. Just buy some wood and trace your speaker at the widest part, then cut it out and create a ring but cutting out the middle, leaving a ring that the speaker can sit in, then you just drill holes where you need them to be to mount the speaker to the ring and the ring to the mounting tabs.

Re: Front Speakers

Do you know if Best Buy or some other electronics store would sell a full set of component speakers? I don't really need new door speakers but i guess it can't hurt.

Re: Front Speakers

Yes sono, any place that sells car audio will have them. Just ask to listen to some different sets of component speakers and they will help you. then YOU listen, and choose the ones you like the sound of. dont let them sway you off your rpeference

Re: Front Speakers

The stock ones are about an inch and a half in diameter, but most one inch tweeters ive seen are too deep to fit in the stock mounting place... to be honest, any tweeter will work, you might just have to drill a hole or two to make it work properly.
