how to install hids

Do I need a conversion kit for headlights if I go from stock to xenon hids. Also there seems to be a lot of wiring involved. And a ballast. Where do you hook that up to?

Re: how to install hids

It should come with instructions...
It's not difficult.

Re: how to install hids

Yea, jus plug up the wires frm the ballast first. Then jus like u would plug in a regular bulb, HID's come wit the same type of plug. So jus plug it and put the bulb in the headlight. Real simple. U cud mount the HID ballast on the side, 1 where the intake is at and the other side where the power steerin reservior is at.

Re: how to install hids

Several people on this site, including myself, have ordered their kits from DDMTuning with an overall good experience. These kits are low cost, high quality. Very simple install. Only issue with mine was the positive and negative wires were installed into the harness backwards. 10 seconds to flip them and everything was good

HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning

Re: how to install hids

yea ddm tuning is the best only 40 for slim ballast now wat a deal

u might also need a relay harness because mine didnt have enough power from stock wires so i got a relay harness that plug from the battery... $8 for 9006 relay harness on ebay + $30 for "fat" 9006 hids + $10 shipping *= all for like ~$50 all together good deal i think

just make sure u get the 9006 ones*

Re: how to install hids

9006 are your normal headlights correct? and 9005 are hi-beams? Im going to be ordering a set and just want to make sure i get it right. Should i get hi-beams too? What temp do you guys think is best? I was thinking 4500-5000. And should i get 35watt or 55? And do i need the HID harness or the error eliminator?

Re: how to install hids

yea 9006 are low if u have stock usmd headlights, dnt get them for the highs u will have enough glare already..

umm i got 35w and there bright as hell dnt really think 55w is nesacery also if u like the blue look 55w will make it less blue

u should think about getting the 9006 relay harness on ebay for $8 (again if u have usmd healight they harness and hid should be 9006), u might need it depending on how good of a battery u have, not the code eliminator thats for like bmw's

i got 6000k 35w its white with tint of blue if u want more blue go with 8000k but over that is usually illegal but up to u

well hope thathelps u can always search hids in 4th gen section it will help u alot

3000k yellow
5000k white
6000k white blue
8000k blue
10000k purpleish
