New Project (:

I'm not necessarily "new" so I didn't post this in the New Members section. But I joined this forum a while back when I bought my first lude a 1993 Si with an h23 in it. The odometer had been rolled back so the motor that I thought had 160k on it had 220k on it and it soon skipped time and bent a bunch of valves so I figured why not just swap it with an h22a? I bought a sick h22a from this one guy and I hadn't started classes at the technical college I attend now so I didn't know much and paid him 300 extra dollars to install it for me. This swap turned out to be one of the worst investments of my life, the dude that sold me the motor had no idea what he was doing and put it in with the wrong ecu(p14), screwed me out of a skunk2 intake mani, forgot to put tranny fluid in, and didnt replace the crank seal or the valve cover gasket when he "rebuilt" the motor. Lost story short the motor spun a rod bearing and I ended up parting it out for money for tickets after I lost my job. Then my step mom (whos name isnt on the tite) sold my car by forging my name and it was a clean si shell.
Well this bring me to my second lude which I just bought in texas for 300 dollars came with a title and everything(I thought it was too good of a deal to pass up). It has some issues and I'll post some pics and show you a few of the problems I ran into so far and see if yall can help. I'm not to familiar with the f23 motor so yeah any help would be appreciated. Sorry if this is the wrong section please move the thread if it is.

Tail light is pushed in you can kinda see bad quality b/c its from my phone not sure how I can fix this? pull it out?

fender is pushed in how do you replace those back fenders seeing as they start from the front of the door and go all the way back?

found a lot of cut wires found where MOST of them where cut from and go to but these 2 kinda close to the tranny im not sure where they go :S

not really sure what this is on my h22 i had one of these that sat on top of the tranny but dont see where this one would go on this f23 tranny

not sure what these go to? kinda by where the alternator PS and ac would be

you can kinda see what im working with here haha kinda bad quality but you can see a lot is missing :P

Re: New Project (:

looks like they got the f23 in there then gave up, f23 in a lude creates some wiring issues. You need to wire in vtec and prob need to get a p28 chipped to run that car. The old ecu might work but will more than likely run bad and no vtec. Some of the sensors on the f23 are in different places and the fuel rail is backwards so you will need a new line that reaches to the other side. Good luck it's gonna be a pain in the ass to get that thing running.

Re: New Project (:

its got a p06 as the ecu right now im not 100 percent on this but i think thats out of a d15 or d16? and yeah as much as i wanna get it running just to see it run do yall think it would be better just to part out the f23? do people buy the f23 block or tranny or any of that business?

definately lol. and ludes never came with an f23. the back "fenders" are called quarter panels. and you have to drill out all the welds and weld a new piece in. hope you have a lot of time/money to invest in this

Re: New Project (:

Depending on your budget I would say save...save..save for the body work. If you do not know what you are doing it can just become a pain and mess. I would say stick to working on the motor yourself. You can do plenty of research and eventually and hopefully get it running.

like I said this motor is not my main concern just a thought to try and get it running and that thought is starting to become more of a no go to be honest seeing as everyone says its gonna be hard work. I'm probly just gonna end up piecing together an h23 or h22 for now but the plans in the future are gonna h22 boosted ^_^

Re: New Project (:

You know that F23's still got lots of potential. The money you would spend on an H22 could easily enhance that F23 beyond a stock H22

when you replace that quarter panel, it should hopefully fix it. looks like that whole corner got pushed in, or the trunk is sticking wayyyy too far out

yeah I went up to my moms work today and printed out a couple pictures of the damage and went to the body shop (b/c she works at a car dealership/body shop) and the guy was real cool since he knew my mom and he said he's gonna come by the house and look at it tomorrow and see what he can do about it he said he should be able to fix it up pretty easy and since my moms an employee I'd get it done pretty cheap

and I might just look into a g motor I've heard a lot about em but I've also heard they are pretty unreliable but every engine has its ups and downs I guess

Re: New Project (:

I would advise you to get a service manual for this car. It will make life easier when trying to install things like the starter, ect. It will tell you step by step what to remove. You can get them free online just google it. (prelude service manual)

Re: New Project (:

not to be a dick or anything but its a starter I don't really need a service manual to install a starter but yeah I already have my old service manual for this car its somewhere in my room and plus the service manual wouldn't help much if the f23 never came in a prelude

Re: New Project (:

haha definitely meant no disrespect bro. It was not my intention to come off that way. Anyway, the service manual has definitely been helpful to me in past that's why I threw that out there. If you read my post it said STARTER, ECT, and it seemed like you had a bit of trouble identifying a couple of things. The motors in a honda accord and prelude are not that different so alot of parts are interchangeable and pretty much alike so that why I threw that out there.

yeah I guess I read that wrong as well I just woke up my bad but yeah if I can find the book I'll look it up and try and see if the f23 was in an accord some year and maybe I can trace some wires that I cant see but I'm probly gonna end up parting out motor and tranny

what tranny came on the f23 I've been trying to find that out but still havent found it

Re: New Project (:

found an h22 close by for 400 dollars so I am gonna sell the f23 to get the money for that
what would be a good price for the whole swap? or whats good prices on block head tranny? I dont want to rip anyone off and think anyone on here would want it? or should I go to an accord forum?

Hell yeah That price for the motor alone would be good.. Check out the condition of it first then make it happen.
