Icon5 F22a1?

Hey everyone, I'm still new here, so forgive me for being forward. I've searched the threads all day before asking just in case someone had answered this before, but i've found nothing conclusive. therefore, I shall ask it now.
First off: I've been driving my car for about 6 months now, 93 prelude 4ws, under the assumption that since it isnt Si and it is automatic, it must have a h23 engine in it. I just got some money to play with, so i went to tinker in my car and realized that I have a F22a1 block under the hood... So now to the questions:
Is the f22a1 a JDM engine? or is it possibly a stock engine in my car?
and
What are specs on the engine in lamen's terms? Is it better than a h23?

I'm not an expert on cars, but from reading posts on this forum for the past couple months I had planned on replacing what I thought was my stock h23 for a vtec h22 and changing the tranny to manual. I wasn't going to get it boosted, just keep with semi stock equipment and have fun with the car. Now I'm not sure what to do because I've no idea what this f22a1 is capable of.

Re: F22a1?

It is the stock engine.

Out off the box from Honda it has less power than an h23.
Buuuut the f22a1 has major potention NA or Boosted.

Just do some real research on the engine and you will see what I mean.

ok, thanks. I have only done a little research on the engine itself over the past day. Nothing real indepth. I was mostly wondering if it were stock because I had hopes that it werent so that I could believe that my odometer was lying to me... haha.

Is the mounting the same as an h22 vtec?

Re: F22a1?

From what I gather: off the shelf- f22a1 (what I have under the hood) came with 2.2 litres for the base model "S" SOHC produced 133 hp @ 5200 rpm, 142 ft·lbf @ 4000 rpm and "VTEC" model DOHC VTEC H22A1, 190 hp @ 6800 rpm, 153 ft·lbf @ 5500 rpm, with a 2.3-litre for the "Si" DOHC H23A1, 160 hp @ 5800 rpm, 156 ft·lbf @ 5300 rpm. Of course you have to subtract a some HP according to how many miles the car has on it. The F22 is SOHC but has a lot of potential if you turbo it or so I've heared. If you plan to keep it N/A than I'd swap an h22 or h23 engine in. Hope that helps...

Re: F22a1?

The f22a1 has extremely good head flow better than the h23 and H22, basically that means the air gets to the motor more effiectently. Also the f22a1 engine came more commonly in the accord of the same year. The f22a1 engine has cast Iron sleeves and 8:1 compression, cast iron sleeves are great for boosting as is the 8:1 compression but the pistons and rods are pretty crap. some links you may want if you are considering upgrading your f22a1 engine are as follows.

CB7Tuner.com - 4th Gen Honda Accord Online Community ---- which is a honda accord forum

Bisimoto Engineering ----- built a f22a1 to like 440 hp on race gas
