My exhaust snapped in half

Hey guys.. i was coming home from work today.. driving up the road and i hear BOOOOOM.. and im like.. holy F*** what was that.. luckily i was like 1 minute from my house in my neighborhood so i just kept driving very very nicely in 4th going like 20.. i pull in my driveway pop my hood and everything looked fine.. so i look under my car.. and my exhaust snapped off the cat.. i guess thats what happens with a 17 year old stock exhaust.. so im gonna be ordering up a skunk2 exhaust today most likely.. unless you guys think i should get something else.. my car sounds like a damn ferrari now though haha

so my question is.. how bad is it to run with open header like am currently doing.. i was watching a video on youtube of a h22 running open header and someone said that youll scorch your valves with zero backpressure or something.. what exactly is back pressure and how is it created through the exhaust? just trying to understand this backpressure thing haha

If someone tells you that you need backpressure, never take advice from that person again, as they are clearly an idiot.

Re: My exhaust snapped in half

open header

can screw the internals badly. I mean i started mine up once with no header (dumb ass move) and i could of bent a vavle, but could thing i didnt rev up on it, but, advice: dont run an open header. have atleast a downpipe.
