need help with a decision

ok so a guy at my local junckyard has a complte h22 with trans and ecu for 1k. the engine has about 160 k i belive. i have an h23 with about the same milage i was thinking of buying the h22 and swapping in my crank rods and pistons to make an h23vtec,i was also thinking i could swap inthe h22 crank rods and pistons in the h23 abd selling that. what would be a better choice the h23 vtec or just swap inthe h22. also should i keep the h23 trans or swap 4 the h22. what is the value of all these items.

dude, swapping the crank, rods, and pistons dont make an h23 vtec. the vtec head makes an h23 vtec. please do A LOT of research

Re: need help with a decision

I have reaserched it and I've heard people say the h22 block and h23 are the same. Wich is y im saying I could get the h22 motor pulld the crank, rods, and pistons, and put in the h23 ones. Cuz isint basically an h23 bottom with vtec head. Cuz I've seen u have to switch out the water pump and all that other stuff to get the timimg wrong.

And im nt trying 2 b one of those guys I have reaserched it and wich is y im still asking rigth now

Re: need help with a decision

h23 has different bore and stroke, the h23 redlines at like 6500 and my h22 redlines at almost 8000. I think its a little more in depth than just changing crank rods and pistons.

H23 and H22 blocks are identical, with the exception of an oil passage or 2, and the oil squirters on the H22 which are NOT equipped on the H23 block. Other than that they share the exact same dimensions.

Re: need help with a decision

just take the 23 block and put the 22 head on it.. your gonna need a new ecu to wire vtec and a few other things.. h23Vtec pulls HARD.. or you can just go the easy route and put the full h22 in.. if you go h23Vtec i suggest rebuilding everything while your in there.. get brand new pistons rods, get skunk 2 retainers valve springs valves cams ect for the head and make this baby quick!

Re: need help with a decision

how to: H23VTEC, H23 VTEC, H23/VTEC (search friendly) - Honda-Tech Post number 2 has a full parts list you'll need for this swap to be stable. I'd say throw in the H22 instead but do want you want
