Where to start?

Now that I have my first weeks vacation I've been doing some research on some things I want to change. My problem is I can't figure out where to start. The looks of the car is pretty beat but I'm not too concerned with looks right now. I'm looking for some suggestions on where to start. I know right off the bat it's an automatic response to say tranny swap, but I'm thinking about doing that this winter considering my life in the winter is work, home and some snowboarding. I understand most things are personal choice just wondering what other people have done first. Some things I have looked into are:

Weapon R Secret intake
Header (not sure which one still researching)
Exhaust (again not sure still researching looking between Greddy, Skunk2 and Apexi)
Some minor cosmetic things exp. fog lights, removing minor dents, relining trunk, lip, side skirts

Are these somewhat normal for a start? I'm sure there's threads on this already I do apologize for not looking through everything. Thanks

Re: Where to start?

I've had my lude for about 2 years or so, and one of the first things I did was get an AEM V2 Intake(mine was already 5 speed), then D/S rotors, a really cheap exhaust tip(recently moved up to Skunk2 Mega Power), and then Forbidden Short Shifter, Momo Steering Wheel...small things. It's all about how long you want to save and/or how much is in your pocket...if you're like me anyways. When I saw something I wanted, and had the money to spare...I bought it.

Re: Where to start?

The swap I'm waiting on just because of the lack of help at the moment. Most people I know are more into their trucks and don't really care for imports. So my brother will be home in October and he's done two other swaps so he might be a little more helpful. And I used to be that type to just go out and buy but now I have a house and a family to take care of or I would have ordered everything by now. And rotors and brakes is something I can't believe I forgot hmm...

Re: Where to start?

damn the family stuff, probably kinda hard while doing a project car,
but, eh its a MAN thing where we talk our problems to our preludes and f*ck the sh*t out of wives, girlfriends, (significant others). but i do believe, just figure out what you want to do, boost, NA, dropped, etc, (always can do a combination ;D) but just figure out what you want to do like i said, and then go buy the parts necessary.

Re: Where to start?

That's exactly what I do when I'm having a rough day, go out to the car do something simple and complain lol. Its a little difficult with a family, mortgage and what not but its a little at a time man and I'm ok with that. My wifes pretty good about it, supportive and told me she wants to help me out however she can. Even offered to buy me new rotors and brakes, just gotta pick them. It's not much and I did say no but its nice to know she knows I'm passionate about this. Step at a time I'm cool with it. I got all the time in the world.

yeah I been reading on here about the hytec replica header, something I need to look up. I pretty much think I have what I want to do planned out it's just researching some and then getting the parts. Piece by piece each week is probably how I'll do it. Figured out how much I can take from each check and spend plus maybe through some over-time pay in there to bump it up. good thing I like mt job I guess

Re: Where to start?

Re: Where to start?

Drop it and 5speed swap it. That bolt on **** gains you nothing. I promise you. Whereas a suspension upgrade you will notice the second you take a corner hard.

Re: Where to start?

Honestly, I wish I would have saved my money and did suspension work or cams, something like that. I did I/H/E and really the only one I care for is the exhaust because the sound.

But now I am a broke college student so I am doing absolutely nothing to my car the next 4 years.

Re: Where to start?

Looks I figured I would do next spring/summer. Suspension I was thinking after the swap. I need to gather up the money for the swap before anything else. I just figured simpler things would keep me happy until I could get the more major things done. It's all about time and money for me. I/H/E will most likely be my first step then tranny swap, suspension and then looks. By the time I do the tranny swap I won't be driving it anyways it'll be snowing and if I'm putting all this work into it I refuse to drive it in the snow. I've worked in 2 days a week of over time to push the process along a little more and even opened an additional bank account just for the car. Again I thank everyone for the opinions and knowledge this is exactly why I like this site.
