JDM H22A timing belt or water pump

I just got a JDM H22A..it has about 30,000-40,000 miles on it..still says honda on timing belt..do you guys think i need to replace the timing belt and water pump?..if i had to replace one, which would it be?..im thinking those parts should still be good with low miles..or how do i check if the parts are still in good shape?..i've already searched and people who have done the swaps didnt mention if they did this..thanks

Re: JDM H22A timing belt or water pump

You should be fine with only 40k miles on it, but if you do replace one, you might as well replace both. Most people do the timing belt, water pump, and timing balancer belt all at once. There's probably something else I'm missing, but oh well, someone else will chime in.

Edit - Oh yeah! Do the manual tensioner swap as well. Cheap, and totally worth it.

Check when was changed. If there are more than 5 years, I suggest you to change the belt.

IMO...If I jus bought a H22a from someone and dont know the actual history to that motor I'd rather play it safe if i'm gonna go work on it by replacing both so that I myself know the actual miles on that pump and T-belt!!!

Someone can tell you there XX,XXX miles on the belt and one day it can snap bc the prev owner lied n told you diff miles on that belt.

Be safe dude....change both even if it looks good bc looks can be deceiving!!!

Better safe then sorry!!!

Ive already do the swap and in that time i didnt change the timing belt... about 3 months later i had problems with it.
IMO you should change both but timing belt its very important to be changed. Also change the tensioner it can also make you have problems!!!!
