Tach is 1,000 rpms off

Ok ever since i replaced my distributor my tach has been 1k rpms low. I tried replacing it with the old dizzy but it's still off. Did i fry something in the computer?

So at idle it shows zero rpms?

Yes, and its consistently 1k low all the way till the redline.

They are both good, they both worked before because ive had both on two different cars. And now the tach is off no matter what dizzy is on. The only reason i swapped them is because i was able to get the rotor off the one to replace it, and some idiot stripped the screw on the other.

VSS controls speedo, odometer, and trip. the tach is teh only thing it DOESN'T control.

i would say crank sensor, cuz i think thats what the tach goes off of, but since it happened when you replaced your distributor...thats prolly the cause. Or at least something to do with that.
