Transmission

Okay, I'm not sure if this is a weird question, but are mechanics able to do a tune up on your transmission? And if you could, give me a estimation on the price?

Re: Transmission

let me guess your auto? there are two options for auto transmission
1)it can only be rebuilt, but its a crap shhot how long it will last
2) there are many different additives some will say help prolong the life(haven't actually see any work myself)

to be honest though your best bet is to 5 speed swap, its very common for these auto tranny's to die i even know to fellow luders who swapped for another auto tranny and then that one died as well!

Re: Transmission

Well, the problem I am having is when I'm driving and the car changes gears I can feel it jerk. The first thing I assumed would be the transmission. Is there anything else that could be causing that?

Re: Transmission

It feels like its jumping forward. And I'm not sure if it would have anything to do with it but when it is in park and i press on the brake it sounds like the shifter is clicking.

Re: Transmission

theres a release mechanism on the brake you shouldn't be able to take the car out of park. with out stepping on the brake unless its broken!

Re: Transmission

u can do a new filter and fluid. ive seen a tranny in an f250 that was on the way out get and extra 60000 because of lucas additive. i trust that stuff. could be motor mounts and tranny mount.

Re: Transmission

sounds like a motor mount to me
from my experience; ran my friends h22a prelude, sounds like he busted something, his transmission was going forward. he called me up and told me it was the motor mount
