ABS Wheel Sensors Diagnostics?

Is there a way to diagnose the actual ABS Wheel Sensor/Wire. I purchased one on ebay for the left front of my 94 Prelude Si, installed it, but still get the same ABS code for a fault with the left front sensor again. Please advise.

Re: ABS Wheel Sensors Diagnostics?

If any damage gets done to the magnetic sensor on the tip of the sensor, it will throw a code and not work properly. When you install it make sure not to hit it on anything, and make sure it's not rubbing on anything when the wheel is turned. When I installed my new one I had no problems, so I imagine you might've gotten a faulty unit from E-Bay.

Re: ABS Wheel Sensors Diagnostics?

Thanks. I guess I should qualify my first question. Is there a way to diagnose the wheel sensor/wire assembly while it is off the car to determine if it is good or bad?

I did lightly clean the wheel sensor magnet with a soft wire brush.

@dbd6604: when you said "damaged" magnetic sensor did it mean "shaved off" metal piece at the middle of the sensor? Because when I cleaned all four of my speed sensors I found out that they are ALL almost to the black base of the sensor. How far do you say should they be sticking out? (or Any one? Guys? Yoohoo!) I can even trace they are shredded in a curve pattern. I don't know how it came to that condition where in fact it's held firmly by two bolts ea of them. Plus they are at a distance from the wheel sense input (if that's what them stripes are called) hehe.

I'm talking about the very tip of the wheel sensor unit. Mine was busted to hell somehow, that's why I had to replace it.

And the distance between the wheel sensor magnet and the sensor rotor (the piece that spins) is not much at all, maybe a couple millimeters. It sits pretty close.

Thanks for the reply/info, man:D
I am thinking of getting it from majestichonda.com to eliminate the hassles of improper sensor (from eBay) and whatnot.
