could the overheating cause this..?

ok.. so i my car was overheatin i bought the thermostat.. but that wasnt the problem it turned out to be the radiator. now the problem is that when going from gear 1-2 you can hear something hit.. it happens everytime it shifts from gear to gear.. could this happen because it overheated .. is it the transmission.. or engine.. any idea.. oo.. its automatic..

Re: could the overheating cause this..?

hey ron 10 ,you need to put more info ,is the noise coming from the engine or from the middle or the engine side ,it could be a bad mount or the transmission flex plate loose torque converter hitting flywheel .

Truer words never spoken. Only way to diagnose stuff over the internet is to give as much detail as you can. Once you've done that add more

Re: could the overheating cause this..?

usually when ur overheating after checking leaks in your cooling sytem, radiator, thermostat, etc.. and you find nothing wrong.. it could be your engine.. maybe the knocking is from (i forget the actual name) but its that part that sits inbetween your transmission and engine its only on automatics though.. im sure there will be more posts after me. someone told me it could be ur rod bearings also.. post more detail!

Re: could the overheating cause this..?

Yeah, we just need a little more info, a video of the sound could help, at least a better explanation of what it is.
