Icon11 fuel pump; injectors; life?

sooo. I did read the thread on why ur car wont start; but i still think its my fuel pump. My clutch doesnt start the car since i broke the piece that makes the clutch start the car. (I have a push button) so, every time i start from a cold start, I have to prime it up to start. (switching from II to III) for atleast 5-10 times. I have a walboro fuel pump waiting for it; Does it sound like the fuel pump at the least? ALSO! with dsm 450 injectors, they are plug in play in our fuel rails? ; monday is when im doing the build!
also, please dont tell me the fuel pump.. is under the backseat..

Bad news:
I know ive beenn not the smartest lude driver and I repeat all questions asked; I suck at research sometimes; and I'm one of the youngest on here. . but I did learn alot from preludezone and met cool people on here..But I have no idea how much time I have left with my lude..because I am willingly putting my car up for sale if needed to...soon for my dads med bills or something else that will come along the line.. ahem, but. working on this turbo build taught me alot about some patience.. and hopefully, I wish to go up to nj&ny to chill/party/club/guido before my big desicion on selling..

Will keep pics updated after putting it on! :D!.

Re: fuel pump; injectors; life?

I know you've read, but here it is again >>> Fuel, Spark, Compression. Could be any of those things ... if you hear the fuel pump prime then most likely its fine. If it doesn't prime then its your main-relay that took a **** or your fuel pump ... what did you do so far to diagnose this problem ?

Re: fuel pump; injectors; life?

it doesnt prime, but 2mrw im taking my car apart basically so yea. ill find out the problem. after i take it apart. compression is fine and My battery also fails. but lately it has been doing better after i do prime it. so i do believe its my fuel pump; but like i stated i'll be replacing it. Question about the injectors though, I have a crack plastic head, on one of the dsm, would that affect anything?

Re: fuel pump; injectors; life?

I don't wanna sound like a jackass bud but it sounds like you need to put some cash into your car just to get it running properly before you do your boost build...

Check for spark, thats the easiest. If no spark, you say you have compression, the it IS something fuel related. First, I would check your filter, its 30 bucks, and if it hasn't been replaced, it could be blocking sufficient fuel. Plus, its alot cheaper for a 30 dollar filter than a hundred dollar fuel pump. If you have the walboro, you are going to have to put it in anyways :P Might as well do that now right :)

well, I guess its the gas, because I did an 87 mixture on top of a 93 because I dont have that much money to afford it. so..I think i finally got rid of all the 87, and now its starting back better with 93, like auto start now. and yeah, I am doing the switch 2mrw. I just re-read nicks post on injectors. so im pretty much good on everything, I knocked in my fender and put it back on, Is the fuel pump under the seat? I saw a pic. Just need to be reassured.

Re: fuel pump; injectors; life?

The fuel pump is more behind than under. just take out the back seats, the center console, and the support and its the silver plate with like 4 screws. then under it its the one on the right with 7 10 mill bolts.

There are many things I learned from my boost build, and one of them being never set a date of completion of your project. Mine was supposed to be completed last month, but never happened. There will be things that come up that will push your date of completion forward and aggravate you to death, that's when you take a break from working on your car, relax, and think things over. Good luck with your boost build.

Re: fuel pump; injectors; life?

Exactly. I was gonna do my engine swap then things fell through, blah blah....

Major work, such as doing a swap or tearing the engine apart to do a build, takes quite a bit of time and proper preperation. Which is why you don't want to do it on your DD unless you have no where to go, or know you can get it done fast and well.

Fuel pump is easy, injectors are easy ( be careful when you remove and put in, dont use alot of pressure, ecu is easy. The rest I have't done and will be harder :P

lol, well its about complete (lucky i got good ass friends). we got the ecu in, piping in, took the backseat out, and got the fuel rail ready.

All we gotta do is:
injectors in
re-do bolts/gaskets
boost controller install
oil line.
fuel pump put in. You will lol at all the dyno, dyna, (dino)? mat put in. the car interior is all dynamat..? lol.

its looking really well; I do have pics, I'm having one hell of a time to get this damn fuel pump, out/in (any suggestions would be great, but I did find an old thread from lilmsprelude. because all of the fawking dynamat?..

question: braided or regular hose?
