Sounds like a bad throwout bearing, my car did that a short while ago. You should probably just buy a whole new clutch set with a throwout bearing included i think its also called a pilot bearing too, might need confirmation of that though. The whole process involves removing your transmission from your engine and its REALLY ANNOYING, to say the least. If its not that then I don't know what it would be.

Noo the transmission isn't the problem, its the clutch. The clutch sits in between the transmission and engine roughly, if your transmission is good you don't need to replace it and it would cost a lot more money if you did anyway. When replacing your clutch you will have to take your transmission out though to get to the clutch. When I replaced my clutch it cost about $160ish for the whole set. Honestly unless you can DIY it's gonna cost a good amount of money to fix.

x2

New clutch - $200 tops

Used JDM manual trans - $600

There's no need to replace the trans, and even if you get a trans, it won't come with a clutch.

Yea so I would call around and price clutch set and make sure they come with a pilot/ throwout bearing and a clutch alignment tool. If you're going for performance now would be a good time to buy a performance clutch so you don't have to do everything over again lol.

Re: clutch problem? help plz

I wouldn't waste your money on a performance clutch, unless you're running serious power, you don't need one.

Re: clutch problem? help plz

Guys, speaking of performance clutch, what benefits does one gets with it than the old/stock one? I have an aftermarket exhaust system and CAI that came with my lude when I bought it will the performance clutch add more to the power? I am not into racing or whatnot, tho. Just trying to grasp INPUT so I won't waste my getting old neurons to make new synapses for new knowledge:D
Sorry if this may sound off topic.

Re: clutch problem? help plz

Does a performance clutch add more power? The simplest answer is no. It doesn't add power, it helps you control the power you have. Even with a CAI, full exhaust, and a tune, you still really wouldn't need a clutch any more beefy than OE.

If you want some more power while you're replacing the clutch, you can get a Fidanza lightweight aluminum flywheel for $200-250. Save your money and get a replacement OE style clutch, cuz unless you just like a good left leg workout while driving, a performance clutch is useless unless your pushing a decent amount more than stock power and are using the car for some sort of racing application.

Plus even a stage two makes driving the car much different, like more of a pain in the ass.
