Engine Dilema

I own two preludes. A 92 with the h23 and a 93 with the h22 vtec. I was planning on rebuilding the h23 but have become interested with swapping the vtec head onto the h23 block. Does anyone have any base numbers for a swap like that? If I stick to rebuilding just one engine, which has the higher potential? Any help, direction or ideas are welcome.

Re: Engine Dilema

It looks as if the only difference is the stroke. Thanks for the "here is you sign moment" suppose I should have checked that first.

Completely different. The H23 bluetop is similar to a h22 in rev limit and internal block design. The H23a1 block is similar to the F22 block.

The H23A1 Is not made to rev that high like the H22. If you put the h22 head on the h23 block, and keep the stock h22 redline then you will def start to spin bearings.

the h23 vtec does not have the same redline as an h22

h23 with h22 head (frankenstein swap) - Honda Prelude Forum - Prelude Online.com
how to: H23VTEC, H23 VTEC, H23/VTEC (search friendly) - Honda-Tech

Not really sure if it's worth it. As i understand it needs over $3000 dollars of work done to it to make it reliable. I'd rather spend $3000 on getting a full H22 and some parts. I've heard up to $4500 which should be enough to swap out an H22 and install a turbo kit if you're doing work yourself
