I have a 1992 Honda preludewith F22. problem that i have its that every time that I turn n the engine the rpms go almost 3000. Stays like that for a while but sometimes goes to the regular rpms. I change couple time the trhotle body, EGR and the MAP sensor but I stll having the same problem.someone knows what the problem??? I need help..Thanks

the RPMs stay high when you first turn on the engine cold to warm it up, then goes down bake to normal when you get closer to operating temp.

But its something that even when the engine its cold or hot stays on 3000 rpm. When i shift to drive or reverse goes to 2200 rpm. Thats not normal because if i dont push the breake the car star running an acceletaring by himself.

yer im not totally sure cos im not familiar at all with automatics but i know my dads car also accelerates by itself when the brake isnt on. has it been doing this the whole time you've had the car? but you can adjust the idle level though. theres a thread on here about it.

does he own a toyota? lol :3
eh.. usually high rpms can be simple as something caught in ur intake.

i change couple time the trhotle body but still getting the rpms high...Also the check engine light is on and says that its the EGR but i change twice the EGR and stills doing the samething :( Some times when i turn on the engine starts normal but when i push the gas goes the same problem with the rpms

whats the code saying because it might not be the sensor itself it could be the ports that are blocked.

when i had my 1997 prelude base it was an automatic, and one day going home from school, it idled crazily and redlined it immediately from start. because something got sucked in from the air intake. how is the air flow? im googling atm.

my car does the same thing. when i start it it idles and like 3 grand for like ten min then goes down but all automatics move when the brakes not engaged

Are all the vacuum lines on the manifold attached and not leaking?
Also is your IACV (idle air control valve) working correctly, unplug it and see what happens.

To me an idle of 3k sounds like his IACV isnt hooked up at all. Or at least thats what mine did when the sensor on my IACV wasnt connected. It would just sit there and idle at 3 grand lol.

Thats what one of my friends was saying, he said it might be sticking or something.
What exactly should i check for?
