4ws error code: 62. No help from resoldering.

Hello!

About a year ago my 4WS system began to malfunction and show error codes. I've did the standard procedure of resoldering the relays, although I haven't resoldered all the points, but only those, that seemed problematic, furthermore my soldering skills are not perfect. So it wasn't surprising, that after half a year the problem appeared once again (Error code 62, which can be reseted by turning ignition off and on). This time I delegated the fixing to a friend of mine, who is a soldering expert, and he resoldered ALL of the relay points. Unfortunately, it didn't help, 4WS is still malfunctioning. Any ideas?

download the helms manual, and go with the flow (chart that is):

http://www.spoonertuner.com/media/do..._Euro_USDM.zip

it's under the steering section (page 655 in the '92 manual/helms page 17-73)

Thanks for your response. But when should I start to go with the flow: when the 4WS light is on or off? It seems that when it's off - everything should be OK, but when the light is on, then the 4WS system is off and thus no current is given, so, for example, I can't measure the voltage.
BTW, I've made some observations, maybe they can give a clue. The light switches on notably more often during urban driving than when driving on highways. Also, if it's rainy and wet, then the light usually doesn't switch on at all. If I reset the error by switching the ignition off and on then the light comes again pretty soon (~3 min). But if I turn the ignition off and park for 5-10 minutes, then the delay for getting the error is notably bigger (~15-20 minutes).

Did your friend remove all the old solder when he resoldered it? I had the same issue with mine, the 4ws would act up at the beginning of every summer until I removed all the solder and resoldered it.

Thanks for your reply!
No, he didn't remove the old solder, so this seems to be the root of all evil.

Btw, one more question concerning 4WS. Sometimes, even when there were no errors during the ride, then after turning the ignition off, rear wheels do not return to straight position, but they should do it according to the manual. Could it be because of a weak accumulator?
