vacuum problem?

when connect pcv valve, engine always start but then die right away, but when i disconnection it the engine will start up and idle at about 1100. and sometime the engine will just die after driving for awhile. for ex. drove for 5 miles around town then once slow down engine die. please let me know what you guys think will fix it. and engine light is on too.
