A good idea to purchase tranny?

Alright so my 92 Si has 33k on a rebuilt engine but its still rockin the original tranny with 193k =/ but on CL theres a guy partin his 92 si and has a manual tranny with only 90k with no slips, grinds, the good stuff. Anyways he wants $250 for it, reasonable? Also sometimes when i drive my car for about 5 mins then park it for a couple mins i go back out and it wont start for about 5 more mins and i have to sit before attempting to start again?? could this be starter going? The guy said he'd throw in a starter for free. Let meh kno what ya think

Re: A good idea to purchase tranny?

That sounds like a starter honestly, I had a problem like that with a toyota celica.. haha... Except it would take 24 hours, or use a battery charger.. 200 amp engine start FTW!

But if you got the $, do it, especially if he includes a starter. Was his a vtec?

What i'm asking, is do you have an h23 tranny or h22 tranny, and would he be selling you a h23 tranny or h22 tranny?

Sounds like a good deal on the tranny... But the starting problem seems more like main relay related..

Re: A good idea to purchase tranny?

I have that same problem too with the whole driving then parking, and having to wait five minutes to start up again. However I only get the problem if I turn my car off after it's reached operating temp. I took my lude to two different mechanics. One said it was a main relay problem, the other said it was the ignition switch. I had both replaced to be certain, and the problem is still there. Had them check it again, and they came to the conclusion that it's my radiator pressure cap. Stock lude's have 1.1 on it, and mine is some weird kind made in Taiwan with a 1.3 on it. Idk what the pressure in the radiator would have to do with the car starting, but that's what they told me. I've just been too lazy to change the cap because the 1.3 is supposedly better. hahaha check it out.
