Need Help With New 94 VTEC

Ok so i officially have two Ludes now. More details after i can get it on the road.

94 Prelude Si 180k miles
H22
Manual
DC headers
NGK sparkplugs, and wires.
5zigen exhaust
spectre CAI

the exhaust ends after the cat, it needs to be welded back up.

So its an H22a and it has an acceleration problem. It will go if i just slowly and barely press the gas but any harder and it will sputter and not accelerate.

Drives fine at a constant speed but if i give it too much gas it will sputter and not want to go any faster.

To be clear if i want the car will hit any rpm 5000+ etc it will... but it would take forever to get there.

Any ideas?

Re: Need Help With New 94 VTEC

Manual, i swapped my 92 2.3L throttle body with TPS and replaced a vacuum line and it got better but still does it. Might just be because it sat a while.

Re: Need Help With New 94 VTEC

Check your MAP sensor and KNOCK sensor, check vacuums and if you can post one photo of the engine.
I can say that I use to have problem like this ... solved with better fuel ( 100 RON - EU standart )

Re: Need Help With New 94 VTEC

Ok , so check your vacuums in the red area. Also check the MAP sensor. Sometimes the ECU light didn't shows , but if you check it there is an error code.
In my case this is error №20 . The light didn't shows , but when I check for errors I get this error №20. It is good to check this too.

Re: Need Help With New 94 VTEC

Im sorry PZ.. I love you guys.. But im amazed I haven't seen anyone suggest this yes. My car did the EXACT same thing 2 days after I got it. Im sorry bro but your clutch is prob gone. I had to go get a new clutch and resurface the fly wheel on mine. But now it drives perfect. Im 90% sure its your clutch bro.

Scroll down and look at problem number 2.. But my advice is, I wouldn't get it to 50 mph.
1. We both know how long that'll take lol. 2. If it is the clutch the longer you drive with it like that the more it'll eat up your fly wheel and then you'll have to spend more mulah to get another one.
No more CLUTCH PROBLEM threads!!!

Hope I helped,
Landon.

Re: Need Help With New 94 VTEC

We'll keep us updated than(; Cause i'd like to know what it is. Cause my car did the EXACT same thing yours is. And its cause my clutch wasn't engaging.

Edit: Sorry I think I just misread it lol. I thought you were saying the car will barely go but your rpms will be at 5k+ rpms but instead your saying it will take forever for it to get to 5k+ rpms right? My bad lol.

No, sorry i see where you got that now, its the opposite it can take off just fine and if i slowly gas it, it can make it up to 5000+ rpm, 60+ mph, if i want it to.

Re: Need Help With New 94 VTEC

I don't think the H22/H23 dizzys are interchangeable in the first place...I'm not sure. Buuut maybe you have a faulty TPS. They can be faulty and not throw codes. Bitches. Test the voltage on it. .5V closed and 4.5V open I believe.

I swapped the TPS with the 2.3 one as well, nothing changed. And it ran the same when i swapped the dizzys, i made sure the timing was the same.
