Icon5 intake question

so i ended up buying a cheapy ebay Cold air intake. im worried that i might get water by going through puddle and then hydro locking my motor.

so, is it possible to put the bypass valve (from the AEM intakes) onto this cheapy ebay one??? because i really couldnt afford another engine or car is my prelude did hydro lock

Re: intake question

as long as they have the same diameter, it should fit no problem. but those bypass valves are completely pointless and completely neglect the point of a CAI. you might as well just cut the intake tube and make it a SRI, cuz that's essentially what installing the bypass valve does.

as long as you don't drive like a complete stupid idiot, you won't hydrolock your motor.

Re: intake question

its not going to suck up water from a splash. it will suck up water if you submerge it. if you see water, don't drive through it! simple.. your not going to have a problem driving down the road and hitting a puddle.

Re: intake question

Are your splash guards intact and in decent condition? And is the stock resonator still taking up the inside of the fender? If so..you won't have anything to worry about.

When I took out my resonator, I still left the little rubber boot in the hole underneath the air box just to help the channel of airflow from the fender to the engine bay just that tiny bit more.

All in all though...what they ^^^^ said.

Re: intake question

They also make hydrolock shields for your filter. I'm not sure how reliable they are, but it can't hurt to try.

I had to get another motor lol. As long as the filter isn't submerged underwater you will be fine.
