clutch pressure is weak in beginning

my clutch has always been fine since i got a new one... all of a sudden one day when leavin work.... it was like really loose and required almost no pressure for the first half and then had i think normal pressure for the bottom half... and tgen itd get stuck at like the midway point after releasin the clutch.... anyone have any idea what could cause this? its beginnin to get a lil harder to put the car in gear now

nick i read ur thread jus now..thanks....just a question to add to it though....i seem to have problem #1 as rocktavius said as well....the clutch reservoir was empty...underneath the lil plastic circle, i did see fluid...but the cup area on top was completely empty...

so after putting fluid in there...im guessin i jump rite down to the bleeding section...
nick, u mentioned opening the bleeder valve for the bleedin part...wheres that bleeder nipple?

and since it was empty, do i most likely have a leak now all of a sudden? or can it slowly drain over time?

Re: clutch pressure is weak in beginning

you have a leak bro. i have one too but mine is very slow. you just have to change your clutch master slave or whatever. just get a friend to help you its not that bad. imma do it also soon just been lazy and didnt wanna do it while it was cold. lol i went to Honda dealer and they were like $600 to fix. lol i laughed and walked away. my friend showed me where it was and i was like really 600 for that? yeah right. u can get the whole replacement for like 30 bucks i think.

and yeah dont forget to bleed the clutch too. nothing sux like having your pedal stick to the floor in first gear in traffic a week later haha

Re: clutch pressure is weak in beginning

there is a bleeder valve on the slave cylinder which is comin out the side of the trany. If you are standing looking at the car it is behind rad on left. Bleed it for like ten minutes though.takes two people. If it does the same thing after a few days trace the line from slave cylinder back to master cylinder and look for the leak. pm me if you have any questions

Re: clutch pressure is weak in beginning

nope, the bleeder valve is on the slave cylinder, which is on the front of the transmission. right behind the radiator fan, to the left of the front motor mount.

Re: clutch pressure is weak in beginning

how about this? lol... i just turn the little ridged part to open it up?

also, i checked the reservoir to see the fluid level after i added it about two days ago and its still the same... so is it probably not leaking or just a very slow leak?

Re: clutch pressure is weak in beginning

yup THATSS the bleeder valve! you need an 10mm open-ended/box wrench to open/close it, and it helps if you have some clear tubing to attach to the nipple so you can see if there's any more air bubbles coming out or straight fluid. if you don't have any tubing, you'll see the air bubbles "squirt" outta the valve.

it could either be a VERY tiny leak, or there's simply air in the line, which is being compressed when you depress the clutch, instead of the fluid. which you simply need to bleed out.
