Re: fog lights!

:P you want to splice it into the corner light power source. if you do, make sure you ground off somewhere else instead of into the ground wire. doing that will cause extreme heating up and will cause a short and it will suck. so look for some good clean ground and tap it from there. dont need a switch if you want to have it on all the time, so yes...

the reason i said wtf was just to open the thread with a laugh, so dont be mad, im not that type of guy (i dont even say the f word hahaha)

btw most japanese cars use stanley because, well, thats the only company thats cheap enough to do it for them at a rapid pace

There are So many things wrong with your "suggestion:"

*Most states have laws about driving with the fog lights on all the time.
Fog lights: These auxiliary driving lights may be used with low-beam headlights to
provide general lighting ahead of a motor vehicle, specifically during foggy weather
conditions (N.J.A.C. 13:20-32.25)..

*The side marker light circuit is not capable of providing adequate current for the fog lights.
*A good clean ground is important, yes, But a ground is a ground.. the whole metal chassis of the prelude is a ground. Your statement of causing a short by grounding fogs to the same place as another light is ludicrous (and the one reason I decided to reply to the false information being thrown about in this thread)
*Since the (+) circuit is the one that is fused, for a specific current/load, we need to focus on source power for the lights.

Not every Prelude was pre-wired for fogs. This assumes the switches, wires, and relays are already in place. Ask anyone that has done this addition how much work they had to do to get fog lights in place.

And last but not least.. Spaz knows better ... SEARCH! This has been answered many times already.

Re: fog lights!

^^^whoaaaa!!!

well ive had my fogs wired up like that for years and theres nothing wrong with it...but just looking at that pic is pretty scary. lucky i sourced out a 5p relay for it

and about the foglights on, its all different areas. i live in cali and our laws are pretty strict. worst of all i live in stockton, cali, and thats home of dragnet. theres more bike cops and undercovers that look for illegal mods and they dont pull me over for any type of light being on all the time. i have my rear fog AND foglights running while the lights are all on.

Re: fog lights!

Listen to what LilMsPrelude said. The side marker circuit (or any other light circuit) whats made to power that, side markers only, not side markers and fog lights. The fog lights draw more current than the side markers, and by splicing a connection there you risk overheating the wires, melt the insulation, cause a short, and worst case scenario burning your car down. Hopefully a fuse will blow before that happens, but you never know.

You have a 4th gen which means that that you already have a fog light circuit in your car. The connection for the fogs are in the same harness as the signal lights. Take your signals out and look for the fog lights harness. This harness is the one that you want to splice into. But for your fogs to work you will still need the relay and switch. The relay you can get it at any auto parts store like pepboys etc. And the switch you can use a toggle switch like you said but you will have to slice into the original wiring.

Search around for fog light installation guides here or on google. I'm sure you will find one. I have a link for one in my computer but right now I'm at work and can't remember it. What you want to do is follow the guide but install the fogs you have instead of the original ones.

Also keep in mind that because they are not made for our cars some drilling may be necessary to mount them in your bumper.
Good luck and don't splice into the side markers. It may be easier but is better to be safe than sorry.
